In 1959, we set out to design a resting place unlike any other. We have well-manicured acres, filled with a variety of elegant memorials, interspersed with mature trees and flowering shrubs, providing a tranquil setting for reflection and remembrance. In addition to traditional burial plots, Trinity Memorial also houses two mausoleums and a columbarium (the first one in Southern Maryland), allowin

g alternative interment options. The gardens are easy to navigate, with wide paths winding between the different sections, and benches placed at regular intervals for visitors' comfort. We strive to be a place of dignity, respect, beauty and peace. We are a non-denominational perpetual care cemetery, meaning we will provide ongoing maintenance and upkeep of its grounds and those who rest here in perpetuity, meaning forever. A portion of the cost with every property purchased is put into a trust, that trust gains interest, and will provide the means for us to maintain our gardens in the future. We have a variety of options to choose from, so you can be sure you or your loved one will be resting in everlasting peace and serenity. We offer pre-planning options and also options if you are already suffering a loss. Regretfully, Trinity Memorial Gardens was vandalized between mid-June and the 4th of July and approximately 300 vases were stolen. Trinity Memorial Gardens immediately contacted the Charles County Sheriff's Department and a report was filed.
The Charles County Sheriff's Department advised us that there was an ongoing investigation for the same type of theft at other cemeteries and for us not to share the details pertaining to this situation as it would hamper the current investigation. The vandals were apprehended and placed in jail.
Unfortunately, this type of theft is a nationwide problem. Trinity Memorial Gardens has security cameras throughout the park and our local Sherriff’s Department do patrol the grounds.
It is unbelievable that individuals would dare to disturb a loved one’s final resting place. There are bad people who do bad things which no one can control. Please help Trinity when visiting our cemetery by being vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary.
We are continuing to work hard to identify families which have been affected by this hideous crime and thank you for your cooperation.
Memorials are legally classified as personal property and owned by the purchaser.
If you wish to replace your vase you are responsible for that transaction.

The Purple Heart is awarded to service members who are wounded or killed as a direct or indirect result of enemy action. It recognizes the sacrifice, service, and long-term impact of combat injuries on veterans and their families.
Established by George Washington, it is America's oldest military award and is given exclusively for combat-related injuries or deaths, not for accidents sustained in the line of duty. This makes it the oldest military decoration that is still awarded.

Today we celebrate all those who have earned this distinguished award.

A quick reminder to all our families that in accordance to Trinity's Rules and Regulations:
Any and all items left on the grave are at the property owner's risk. If items are removed from the grounds, they are not kept by Trinity.
Decorations are allowed outside of the vase ONLY from December 1 through Feb 1.
On Feb 2 or soon after all items left on graves will be removed, we do NOT keep these items.
THE REST OF THE YEAR ALL DECORATIONS MUST BE IN OR ATTACHED TO THE VASE (without inhibiting the ability for the vase to be turned down during maintenance or burial services).
No breakable items (i.e. glass, porcelain) permitted. This poses a hazard for the families, visitors, maintenance crew and our equipment.
Decorations cannot exceed 45 inches in height at any time.
ABSOLUTELY NO BALLOONS ALLOWED.

Permanent placement of cremains is such an important thing.

There are so many options, so many different things one can do with cremation now.

Cremation is becoming the choice for families more often and many people don't even know all of the options available to them. We want to encourage people to research what can be done and take the time to plan ahead.

Today is ADA Day, widely recognized as National Disability Independence Day, commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. It celebrates a landmark civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in public life, employment, transportation, and telecommunications.

However, it is important to point out the HISTORY of the ADA. A single person didn't create the ADA, a single instance didn't birth the idea. This all began in many different places where people with disabilities were not given the same access granted to others, when people pushed back against the social norm, protests, letters written, entire communities coming together, to give a voice to those who needed it most. The history of the ADA did not begin on July 26, 1990 at the signing ceremony at the White House. Neither was it in 1988 when the first ADA was introduced in Congress.

Without the work of so many – without the disability rights movement – there would be no ADA.

Take time to learn more about the ADA and everything that it covers, how it helps those who need assistance, how it has changed the life of so many people.

Additional Information about Bronze Vases:

AFFECTED AREAS:
This theft was a targeted incident that affected memorials in the Gardens of Peace and Life located along the upper tree line. If your loved one is buried in the front section of the garden, closer to the road, your family was not affected. If your family is NOT in these area's, your family was not affected by this incident.

Communication:
We previously mailed letters to families in the Garden of Peace whose memorials were identified as part of this crime. At the request of the investigating detectives, we delayed notifying additional families while the investigation remained active.

We are currently inventorying the recovered vases and are working diligently to return them to their proper memorials. PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO TAKE A VASE THAT WAS RETURNED TO US DUE TO THIS HORRIBLE INCIDENT AND PUT IT ON A MEMORIAL THAT WAS UNAFFECTED BY THIS THEFT. WE WILL BE RETURNING THESE VASES TO THEIR PROPER MEMORIALS ONLY.
The detectives have now authorized us to move forward with contacting the remaining families affected by this incident. Because not all of the stolen vases were recovered, we will be reaching out to each affected family individually to let them know whether their vase was recovered and to explain the next steps.
Only the property owner on file will be notified. If you haven't updated your contact information, please do so.

Additionally, we would like to remind our families that, due to the nature of flat memorials, vases must be removable. This allows us to perform future burials safely and maintain the grounds properly. While our standard vases are bronze, depending on the company you decided to make your memorial with, they may offer a composite, non-bronze alternative that complies with Trinity Memorial Gardens' rules and regulations.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and trust as we continue to care for the final resting place of your loved one.

Bronze Vases here at Trinity Memorial Gardens

Again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the detectives and all of the law enforcement agencies who worked tirelessly on this case. Your dedication, diligence, and careful investigative work made it possible to bring this incident to a successful resolution. This marks the first time in more than two decades that a cemetery vase theft in Maryland has resulted in an arrest. Thank you for your commitment to seeking justice and for helping provide our families with the closure they so greatly deserve.

We also want to recognize and thank our office and grounds staff for their extraordinary efforts throughout this incident. This has been an incredibly difficult and stressful time for our team, yet they have remained compassionate, professional, and committed every step of the way. From assisting law enforcement with the investigation to responding to the overwhelming number of phone calls, emails, and visits from concerned families, they have gone above and beyond to provide support during this challenging time.

Trinity Memorial Gardens was recently the target of a theft in which bronze vases were stolen from memorials. This criminal act was reported immediately by our staff to law enforcement, and officers responded within the hour. At that time, we were asked not to make any public statements or release additional information while the investigation remained active.

Thanks to the outstanding work of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, along with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, those responsible have been identified and arrested.

We are in the process of notifying the families whose memorials were affected. We sincerely appreciate the patience, understanding, and support our families have shown throughout this difficult situation.
