My name is Liz and I'm a recovering addict. I've been in and out of recovery since 2012 with my longest period of sobriety being five years. At five years clean I had what appeared to be my whole life in front of me. I was a Peer Support specialist for the state of Wv and someone who people knew they could come to when seeking a way out of active addiction.

However, behind the scenes I was struggling with my mental health in ways that I didn't feel like I could openly tell anyone else. Inevitably a relapse occured and I would spend the next three years fighting for my life and fighting to get back to what I knew recovery could be. The shame and guilt had me locked in a vicious and almost lethal cycle. I knew everyone that worked in these treatment centers, how could I ever face them and walk back into freedom?

On August 12th, 2025 I did just that. I walked through the doors of Harmony Ridge Barboursville and the experience was nothing like I imagined at all. I was greeted with so much love. So many saying “we're just glad you're alive Liz". I walked into the loving arms of a family that were prepared to fight for me and love me no matter what my head told me I deserved. I sat in front of staff while there that told me how much I had influenced them or helped them during my time as a peer supprt and reminded me of the woman I could be. I truly believe that som**hing bigger worked everything out for every single one of those people to be set on my path. I truly believe that Harmony Ridge is such a special place and I'm forever grateful for everyone in that facility that showed me how to let go of all that shame and all that guilt.

My clean date is August 13th, 2025. I graduated Harmony Ridge and went on to sober living which I also completed. I now have my a place of my own, a job that I actually like going to, a support group that holds me accountable and loves me unconditionally. I love life today. Even when it gets hard or my head tells me som**hing different, I truly know I'm worth staying clean for. I truly know that life is worth living and not som**hing to just survive.

Memorial Day was well spent—enjoying good company, playing cards, tossing corn hole, and eating some amazing ribs fresh off the grill. Days like these are a perfect reminder to slow down, laugh a little more, and appreciate the freedom and time we get to share together. Grateful for the memories made today, and especially thankful for those who made it all possible.

My name is Stephanie, and I am a recovering addict. I started using drugs during my teenage years but because I managed to maintain good grades & play sports I believed that partying on the weekends with friends was just a normal part of life. Over time, I spiraled into heavy addiction to he**in and m**h. I lost touch with my true self and felt like a stranger when I looked in the mirror. My struggles led me to a dark place where I wished at times I would just die.

After years of cycling in and out of prisons, jails, and treatment facilities, som**hing finally began to shift in me. Relapse has been part of my journey; I didn’t get it right the first, second, or even third time, but eventually, I found my way. Today, I proudly have a couple years of sobriety. I have rebuilt my relationships with my children and my family, have a loving boyfriend, and am thriving in a fulfilling job within the recovery community.

Through treatment and therapy, I discovered my true self and confronted the demons I needed to overcome. My life now exceeds anything I could have ever imagined. Harmony Ridge played a crucial role in my recovery, and I am truly grateful for their support.
