With October coming to an end, we would like to send a reminder. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and remind everyone that breast cancer can affect men, too!
We would like to highlight Travis Bunch. Travis is right in our small town community of Walkerton. Travis, his wife, Chris, and daughter, Grace, are a large part of this community, and have been for years. Breast cancer does not discriminate, and awareness, education, and early detection matter for everyone!
Travis was diagnosed on March 1st, 2019. He was first diagnosed as a stage 3. After he had his right sided mastectomy surgery and pathology testing, it changed to stage 4. It has metastasized to his lungs, bones, and brain. Travis has been on some type of chemotherapy over the last 7 and a half years. Travis most recently had to take a break over the last 2 months due to major side effects. Travis wants both men and women to remember that early detection is the key, along with self exams, and yearly mammograms. If you think you detect anything at all, no matter how minor you think it is, have it checked out!
Also, Travis would like us to remember all of the the families, caretakers, and loved ones that help care for those fighting cancer, that they can also be carrying a heavy load!
