Two and a half weeks ago, I drove up to Danbury in the middle of the night in an effort to capture the Perseids Meteor Shower. I didn’t capture any meteors but that didn’t matter because the location I had chosen on the Dan River was beautiful under a starry night. Upon returning home, I had dozens of images that were all slightly different. The first one I posted was shot at 1:00 AM. After getting some sleep and taking more time to compare the different images, I found one I liked better captured at 12:22 AM and posted it. I don’t like posting multiple images of the same subject so when I started liking THIS image more than the other two, I didn’t post it and I hate not sharing my favorite work. This image was shot a 12:33 AM (between the other two) and has the best of both and then some - more stars and better framing. Across from Moratock Park on August 13, 2026.

I really needed to hike in this afternoon. This was 35 minutes before sunset. It was drizzling just a little bit as the weather was coming in. My first photo was at 6:32 PM. This is photo number 93 of 107 captured. After getting home, showering and doing a quick glance at the thumbnails, this is first and only one I’ve edited so far. So, I’ll probably find a couple more that I will also edit but I wanted to get one image shared this evening so this is it. From the Hanging Rock Ridge as the sun was beginning to drop behind clouds in the distance beyond Moore’s K**b in Hanging Rock State Park. 7:32 PM, 08.22.26
