Some teachers don’t just teach yoga—they change the way you experience it. 💙

That’s Coach Walsh.

Around here, we simply call him Coach.

With over 7,000 hours of teaching experience, Coach brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge to every class—but what makes him truly special isn’t just his expertise. It’s the way he teaches.

Coach is gentle, thoughtful, kind, funny, inspiring, and endlessly encouraging. He has an incredible gift for making yoga feel welcoming, whether you’re stepping onto a mat for the very first time or have been practicing for years.

His classes aren’t about achieving the “perfect pose.” They’re about discovering what your body can do today.

You’ll improve your balance, mobility, flexibility, strength, and body awareness through carefully guided movement, while also learning something deeper. Coach thoughtfully weaves the philosophy and intention behind yoga into every class, reminding us that yoga is just as much about how we live as how we move.

One of our favorite things about Coach is that he makes everyone feel like they belong.

Many people tell us they’ve always wanted to try yoga but worried they weren’t flexible enough, were too old, had an injury, or simply didn’t know where to begin.

Coach is exactly where to begin.

For more than a decade, Coach has also taught yoga at Campolindo High School, introducing hundreds of students to the lifelong benefits of yoga. His ability to connect with people across generations is one of the many reasons we admire him. At Behavioral Fitness, he’s even led special family yoga classes, creating opportunities for parents, grandparents, children, and teens to move, laugh, and learn together.

☕ Something New is Brewing at Behavioral Fitness

There is a special energy around Behavioral Fitness right now.

Every week, new faces become familiar faces. Conversations last a little longer after class. Members are introducing friends. People are lingering after class. What started as a vision is becoming something we hoped for—but could never have fully imagined.

That’s why we’re excited to launch something many of you asked for…

Be-Fit Café Social

Wednesday, July 29 | 10:00–11:15 AM

Right before our Balance & Mobility class, join us for a modern Coffee Klatch.

No agenda.

No presentation.

No formal facilitation.

Just coffee, tea, sparkling water, and good conversation.

Whether you’ve been part of Behavioral Fitness for years or you’re simply curious about what we’re building, you’re welcome.

You’re also welcome to bring a friend, neighbor, or family member who could use a little more connection.

Please register if you plan to attend. You can find Be-Fit Cafe’ Social under Events on the web site or Behavioral Fitness App.

Research continues to show that meaningful social connection is one of the strongest predictors of our physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. We were never meant to do life alone. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do isn’t another workout—it’s simply sitting across from another human being and sharing stories.

This gathering beautifully reflects the mission of Behavioral Fitness and our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, PEACE (Providing Easier Access to Care Everywhere)—creating opportunities for movement, connection, belonging, and support before a crisis ever arrives.

❤️ A little glimpse behind the scenes…

Many people know us for our movement classes, yoga, Tai Chi, and community events. What many don’t realize is that another part of our most work happens quietly behind the scenes—helping individuals and families navigate addiction, mental health challenges, caregiving, grief, and life’s difficult transitions.

Our Founder, Dr. Allyson Mayo, is a Doctor of Behavioral Health who has spent decades helping people navigate life’s most difficult seasons. If you or someone you love needs help finding resources, navigating a family crisis, or simply figuring out where to begin, we’re here.

It’s all part of the same mission:

Building healthier communities through movement, connection, compassion, and prevention.

This weekend, Allyson and I attended the Ed Sheeran concert. The next morning, I opened Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie, and the reading I happened to turn to said:

“Music is all around us. Listen for it. Seek it out. Know you’re welcome to join in. Don’t worry about how well you carry a tune or whether you know all the words. You’ve been invited to the campfire. Come. Sing along. You’ll have the time of your life.”

It made me realize that the “music” isn’t only something we hear.

Sometimes it’s found in a room full of people moving together.

Sometimes it’s shared over a cup of coffee.

Sometimes it’s in the kindness of someone remembering your name or noticing you’ve been gone.

Maybe that’s the music.

We’re hoping Behavioral Fitness becomes one of those places—a place where people don’t just come to exercise.

They come to belong.

If you’ve been looking for a welcoming community, we’d love to meet you.
