How to play a 7-bowl crystal set (for dummies) 🎼

This is the content that needed to be made right now. Because it’s never been easier to buy a 7-bowl set off Amazon and call yourself a sound healer. But without knowledge of what you’re actually doing with sound, without music theory, and without awareness of your own nervous system as the practitioner — more harm than good can come from these sessions.
So here’s just some good advice, if you’re going to play a 7-bowl set.
Most 7-bowl sets live in the 4th, 5th, even 6th octave. Pretty. But much too high. We champion a low frequency because at low frequencies, the whole eardrum moves in phase with the sound — one coherent surface delivering one coherent signal to the brain. At higher frequencies, that motion fragments.
KIN bowls are the only 7-bowl diatonic set rooted in the 3rd octave (~130–247 Hz) — the exact fundamental range of the human speaking voice in a regulated, parasympathetic state. The body recognizes it as its own. That’s what reads as safe.
In the world of therapeutic sound it’s harmonics over everything.
I share this openly and for free because the KIN ideology is so much more than playing crystal bowls and combinations of bowls. What you’re seeing here might be the whole training somewhere else — at KIN, this is just where we start.
