☀️Summer fun in the sun can have effects that are not fun at all, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.🥵 Do you know which is which, and what should you do?

💪 Heat cramps are muscle spasms. Take a break and drink water and get electrolytes
🌡️ Heat exhaustion happens when your body overheats and can look like heavy sweating, fever and cold, clammy skin. Get in the shade, get water and apply cold items to the back of your neck.
😵‍💫 Heatstroke is when your body is seriously overheating. You'll sweat less, your skin will flush and feel hot. You'll also have headache, vomiting and convulsions. Get to an ER immediately!

🏥 Remember: Our ER is here for you 24/7, and Wamego Family Clinic Walk-In Clinic is open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, including July 4. Stay safe and cool! 🧊

Fireworks are a Fourth of July tradition, but they can also cause serious burn injuries in seconds. Before you celebrate, take a moment to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Help prevent fireworks burns by following these safety tips courtesy of Wamego Health Center Emergency Department and the American Burn Association:
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
🎆 Let fireworks cool completely before handling.
🎆 Never relight or pick up fireworks that don't ignite.
💧 Soak used fireworks and sparklers in water before throwing them away.
💧 Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of fire.
🚨 Call 911 for severe injuries or uncontrolled fires.

If a burn does happen, knowing how to recognize the severity and provide the right first aid can make a difference. Swipe through to learn the different degrees of burns, how to treat them, and when it's time to seek emergency care.
