💙💚 NAMI CENTRAL GEORGIA IS PROUD TO LAUNCH DOUBLE TROUBLE IN RECOVERY (DTR)! 💚💙

NAMI Central Georgia is proud to officially launch Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR) in partnership with the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network — a collaboration that brings a level of peer-led support not currently available anywhere else in Houston County.

What is DTR?

DTR is uniquely designed for individuals who are dually diagnosed, meaning they live with both a psychiatric illness and an active or recovering addiction.

NAMI Central Georgia would like to say thank you to the City of Warner Robins for inviting us to participate in the Nonprofit Resource Fair!

Events like this are just one way the City of Warner Robins connects with the community and creates opportunities for local organizations to make a difference.

We are grateful for the opportunity to educate, increase awareness, provide resources, and offer support to individuals and families in need.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more informed, and supportive community where no one has to face mental health challenges alone. 💚

NAMI Central Georgia joined Mental Health Matters, the Houston County Mental Health Accountability team including Superior Court - Judge Lumsden, and a representative from the community service board as the Houston County commissioners proclaim September as Su***de Prevention Month.

The proclamation recognized a powerful truth; su***de prevention requires all of us. Coordinated community partners – 988, 911, law-enforcement, first responders, healthcare and behavioral health providers, schools, courts, faith, base communities, and everyday citizens – are essential to ensuring that anyone facing a behavioral health crisis receives the right help at the right time.

We are grateful for Houston County‘s commitment and proud to stand with so many dedicated collaborators working to protect and uplift our community.

Sunshine alert!☀️

Sunshine from the Eastern Stars Macon District no. 5 along with Masonic Lodge, no. 207 and Chapter no. 25 absolutely understood the assignment and brought a whole lot of sunshine to NAMI Central Georgia today!

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. This incredible group has been a steadfast supporter of our mission for years, and they never stop showing up for us and our residents. This matters! Their commitment reminds us once again that our phrase, “You Are Not Alone,” is more than words. It’s a promise lived out throughout our community.

Thank you, Eastern Stars and Masonites, for your continued love, support, and service. You make a real difference, and we appreciate you more than you know. 🥰

Hi NAMI Central Georgia Family,
So many of you who follow and engage with our page have been incredible supporters — and many of you have been consumers of our services. You’ve told us time and time again how important our work is, and we are grateful for every message, comment, and word of encouragement.

It’s because of your generosity that we are:

- The ONLY mental health group home program in the region with an onsite psychiatrist
- The ONLY NAMI affiliate in the country offering full, comprehensive wrap‑around psychiatric services with three‑tiered housing facilities
- The ONLY co‑ed Community Residence Mental Health Recovery facility (CRR1) in Houston County

These accomplishments exist because you believed in us.

But today, we need you now more than ever.

As we participate in NAMIWalks, we’re asking our Facebook community — the people who know our mission best — to help us continue providing life‑changing support. Please consider donating whatever you can. There is no amount too small to make a difference in someone’s life.

All it takes is a moment.
Simply click the link, make a gift from the heart, and know that you are helping someone find hope, healing, and a place to belong.

Thank you for always standing with us. 💙https://www.namiwalks.org/teams/85619/donate?REFERRER=Nucl_iosM_FdrInTkTk

My journey with mental health started in my senior year of college as a young adult. I was admitted to medical school, but lost my seat due to bad grades my senior year of college. After that, I struggled to get an MPH, in the hopes of returning to medicine. Due to the stigma surrounding mental health and the lack of awareness, I was unable to get the treatment I needed to be successful. I was unable to return to medical school or keep jobs. For someone who was high functioning, this was a tough break. All my years of playing tennis helped me stay tough, but it still was not enough in the past several years, I watched everyone grow except for me. Staying in a rut has been a challenge. Mental health is not something to take lightly. Social media can sometimes make it worse. Along the way, I have had several supporters and mentors such as physicians, case workers, family friends, and family whom I truly appreciate. As a member of and volunteer for NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), I ask that you donate to the cause of raising awareness about mental health issues and decreasing stigma in different populations. I think we could save many lives and decrease hospitalization rates. NAMI Central Georgia works to provide affordable housing, treatment, and resources to those with mental health illnesses. Everyone has a different story, and the more people we can have an impact on, the better. NAMI Central Georgia specifically helped me by allowing me to pursue my goal to be a Certified Peer Specialist in Mental Health. With this certification, I can work with others who have mental illness to help them achieve their goals and provide needed peer support.

This year I am walking with NAMI Walks to raise money for the non-profit NAMI Central Georgia for the services they provide to those in need. In addition to helping with mental illness, NAMI of CG also donates food in partnership with other organizations.
I would truly appreciate your support as I walk for mental illness and NAMI of Central Georgia.

Thank you. Your contribution means a lot to me and my organization.

My Story~Tori

My mental illness story started at a very young age for me. I will
never forget having so much anxiety and hallucinating. I wasn’t
formally diagnosed with my mental illnesses until much later in
life, but it all started with a simple depression and generalized
anxiety disorder diagnosis. It wasn’t until I was 31 years old that I
received the proper diagnosis.

I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type,
PTSD, and panic disorder. I have also been diagnosed with
alcohol abuse disorder. I am almost 5 years in recovery from
alcoholism.

My mental health is so important to me, and NAMI Central Georgia has been my soft place to land. I have accomplished so many goals here and have done things 5 years ago I would have said I would have never been able to do. NAMICG does so much for not
just me and other residents here, but for the community. We have
a food bank that provides services the third Tuesday of every
month.

I worked really hard and have become a Certified Peer Specialist
specializing in mental health. I work at NAMI Central Georgia and it’s the greatest blessing. I love working here and being a part of something greater. I pray that I continue to be a good role model to others and continue to bring hope to others by helping others accomplish their goals and advocate for themselves.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. Please, if you
are able, please help us fulfill our mission of helping others with
their struggles with mental illness and donate today. 100% of your
donation goes back to NAMI Central Georgia and helps provide
so many resources. Your donation makes such a tremendous difference! https://mnami.org/j7qsz
