Can my back pain be related to IC? 🤔
It can be!
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) doesn’t always feel like bladder pain. Some people also experience discomfort in the lower back, pelvis, abdomen, or hips.
One reason may be the connection between the bladder and the pelvic floor. When you’re experiencing ongoing bladder pain or urgency, the pelvic floor muscles can become tense or overactive as your body responds to those symptoms. That tension can contribute to discomfort that extends into the pelvis, hips, and lower back.
Your symptoms don’t always exist in isolation. Looking at the relationship between your bladder, pelvic floor, and surrounding muscles can be an important part of understanding the bigger picture.
If you’re experiencing IC symptoms along with persistent back or pelvic pain, an evaluation can help determine what may be contributing to your symptoms. Call/Text or DM us today to consult with a pelvic pt.
