🌫️ WILDFIRE SMOKE ALERT 🌫️
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires has reached our area, leading to poor air quality that can affect anyone—but especially children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with asthma, COPD, or heart disease.
⚠️ Watch for these symptoms:
• Coughing or sore throat
• Burning eyes or irritation
• Shortness of breath or wheezing
• Chest tightness or chest pain
• Headaches or dizziness
• Increased asthma or COPD flare-ups
🛡️ Protect Yourself:
âś… Stay indoors when air quality is poor.
âś… Keep windows and doors closed.
✅ Run your air conditioning on “recirculate” if possible.
âś… Use a HEPA air purifier if available.
âś… Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
âś… Wear a properly fitted N95 mask if you must be outside for extended periods.
âś… Stay hydrated and continue taking your prescribed inhalers or respiratory medications.
🏥 When Should You Seek Medical Care?
Visit Champion MedExpress Care if you develop:
• Persistent coughing or wheezing
• Difficulty breathing
• Chest discomfort
• Worsening asthma or COPD symptoms
• Fever or symptoms that may indicate an infection rather than smoke exposure
🚨 Call 911 immediately for severe shortness of breath, chest pain, confusion, blue lips or fingertips, or if someone cannot speak in full sentences due to difficulty breathing.
