Can a tattoo increase skin cancer risk? The quick answer is, NO.

Dermatologists have been studying this for decades, and they have found that having a tattoo does NOT increase your risk of skin cancer. The inks used in tattoos have not been linked to skin cancer either.

Experts do warn to be careful of tattoo placement. Don't place a tattoo over a mole where it may obscure your ability to notice important changes in that mole.
