Dr. Lively was born and raised in Austin, Texas. After high school, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman before returning to Texas to pursue his education. He completed both his undergraduate studies and dental training in Dallas, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Texas A&M College of Dentistry in 2016.
Following dental school, Dr. Lively completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Portland Health Care System. He then spent eight years practicing dentistry and refining his clinical skills before completing his endodontic residency at Oregon Health & Science University. This breadth of general practice experience gives him a comprehensive perspective on each patient's overall dental health, informing the way he approaches root canal therapy and tooth preservation.
Dr. Lively is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and has presented research at the association's annual meeting. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Multnomah County Dental Society and remains dedicated to education, volunteering part-time at the Portland VA hospital where he teaches residents advanced techniques in root canal therapy.
Dr. Lively lives in the Portland area with his wife and their two children. Outside of the office, family is at the center of his life; the Lively's can often be found camping, playing soccer, and enjoying the many adventures that come with raising two kids.
