What are you anchored to?

Too many people enter relationships hoping someone else will completely fix what they haven’t healed within themselves. We look for someone to silence our insecurities, carry our emotional wounds, calm our fears, or fill the emptiness we haven’t learned to face alone.

But healing doesn’t begin with another person.

It begins internally.

Self-love starts internally.
Growth starts internally.
Accountability starts internally.
Becoming a healthier version of yourself starts with you.

A relationship can support healing, but it was never meant to replace it. Love is not emotional outsourcing. It’s not handing someone your pain and expecting them to carry it while you avoid doing the work.

The strongest relationships are built when two people are both willing to heal, grow, communicate, and confront the things they’re anchored to.

So ask yourself:

Are you anchored to fear?
To abandonment?
To trauma?
To validation?
To unhealthy attachment?
To the belief that someone else is responsible for your peace?

Or are you anchored to healing, growth, purpose, faith, self-awareness, and accountability?

The truth is, whatever you’re anchored to will eventually shape every relationship you enter.

You deserve relationships rooted in emotional health — not emotional survival.

If this post speaks to you, resonates with your current season, or you find yourself connecting with content like this often, it may be a sign that there are areas within yourself asking for healing, growth, and deeper understanding.

You don’t have to navigate that process alone.

If you’re looking for support, guidance, and a space to process the emotional weight you’ve been carrying, I’d be honored to walk alongside you in that journey toward healing, self-awareness, and becoming a healthier version of yourself.

Healing is possible. But it starts with you.

Monday Post — Awareness Is the Beginning

Last week, we talked about “watching who you hook your wagon to.”

Today, let’s take that a step further.

Because awareness is only the beginning—intentional action is where growth happens.

It’s one thing to recognize that a relationship may be unhealthy…
It’s another thing to begin creating space, setting boundaries, and choosing differently.

And that’s not always easy.

Letting go, creating distance, or even redefining relationships can bring up guilt, fear, or uncertainty. But making healthier choices in relationships often requires doing what’s necessary, not just what’s comfortable.

Healing often looks like:
• Saying “no” without over-explaining
• Choosing what’s healthy over what’s familiar
• Letting go of connections that no longer align
• Rebuilding your sense of self outside of others

Growth isn’t just about who you connect with—
it’s also about who you’re willing to release.

✨ Quick Visual Reminders:
🛑 Boundaries are not rejection—they’re protection
🧠 Awareness without action keeps you stuck
🌿 You’re allowed to outgrow people and spaces
💛 Healthy connection matters more than comfort
🔄 Change is uncomfortable, but necessary

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

If you’re navigating difficult relationship dynamics or learning how to set healthy boundaries, therapy can help you process, heal, and move forward with clarity.

Not sure if it's serious enough? If it matters to you, it matters.

This , remember - your feelings don't need to be "serious enough" to deserve care. You deserve support, always. 💚

Some days "doing your best" means making progress. Other days, it just means getting through - and that counts too. 💙

Wherever you are today, it's enough.

Some people don’t fall apart.
They just keep going… quietly.

And that’s why no one notices.

High-functioning doesn’t mean okay.

“Watch who you hook your wagon to.”

That’s something I heard often growing up, and the older I get—and the more I work in crisis and therapy—the more weight that statement carries.

In my work with individuals, I see how deeply our relationships impact our mental and emotional well-being. And it’s not just about romantic relationships. Friendships, social circles, and even long-standing connections can shape how we think, feel, and function.

Here’s the hard truth: not everyone we’re connected to is healthy for us.

Sometimes the people we prioritize the most are the very ones contributing to our stress, self-doubt, or emotional pain. That doesn’t always mean they’re “bad” people—but it does mean the relationship may not be aligned with your well-being.

What good is it to gain connection with the wrong person, if in the process you lose your peace, your purpose, and your soul?

A few things to reflect on:
• Do your relationships bring you peace or confusion?
• Do you feel supported—or drained?
• Are you growing—or constantly recovering?

Being intentional about who you “hook your wagon to” is not selfish—it’s necessary. Your mental health, emotional safety, and personal growth depend on it.

Choose connections that are reciprocal, respectful, and rooted in care.

✨ Quick Visual Reminders:
🧭 Choose alignment over attachment
🌱 Growth requires healthy environments
🛑 Boundaries protect your peace
🤝 Healthy relationships feel mutual
💬 You deserve support

Your environment matters. Your people matter. You matter.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, take time to reflect on the relationships in your life and how they impact your well-being.

If you’re ready to prioritize both your mental and emotional well-being, therapy can be a space to support that growth — I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
