Despite national clinical practice recommendations to periodically screen women and adolescent girls for anxiety and intimate partner violence (IPV), screening rates in primary care settings are low. The Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine recently published the article “Barriers and Facilitators to Screening for Anxiety and Intimate Partner Violence,” summarizing a study aimed at increasing awareness and adoption of screening for anxiety and for IPV in women and adolescent girls.
The article highlights the development of implementation resources – clinical workflow diagrams and resources guides – based on two of WPSI’s recommendations for Anxiety and Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence. The purpose of the resource guides and the accompanying clinical workflows are to facilitate screening for IPV and anxiety in clinical practice for women 13 years and older. The guides provide clinician resources to support screening and assessment, information on billing and coding, selected national and regional resources, considerations for implementation in clinical practices and health systems, and a resource index.
