We hear a lot about “lowering cortisol” online - but cortisol itself isn't the problem.

Your body needs cortisol. Your nervous system is also supposed to activate when you face a challenge. The important part is being able to recover afterward.

Sleep, regular movement, adequate nutrition, and managing caffeine can all play a role in supporting your body's normal stress response.

So instead of looking for a single “cortisol-lowering” food, think about the bigger picture: what helps your body regulate stress and recover?

Tell me you're nervous about your blood pressure without telling me you're nervous about your blood pressure 🤭

👉 Repeatedly checking because you're anxious can actually make the process more stressful. Sit quietly for a few minutes, then take a proper reading.

Take a deep breath. Inhale, exhale. ✨

Have you ever seen a blood pressure reading where the top number was high but the bottom number looked normal?

When systolic pressure is consistently elevated while diastolic pressure is not, this can be called isolated systolic hypertension.

It's more common as people get older, but age isn't the only factor.

If your systolic blood pressure is repeatedly elevated, keep a record of your readings and discuss them with your healthcare professional.

Getting a different blood pressure reading in your left and right arm? A small difference can be completely normal - especially if your arm position, cuff placement, or measurement technique isn't exactly the same.

But if the difference is large and keeps showing up when you measure correctly, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider.

For more accurate home readings, keep your arm supported, use the correct cuff size, and measure under consistent conditions.

Can anxiety actually make your blood pressure drop? 🤔

Things that can mess with your blood pressure reading:

☕ Caffeine right before measuring
🏃 Exercising within 30 minutes
🚬 Smoking beforehand
🗣️ Talking during the measurement
🪑 Crossing your legs or not supporting your back
💪 Holding your arm too low or too high
🩹 Using the wrong cuff size

For a more reliable reading, sit quietly for about 5 minutes, keep your back supported, feet flat on the floor, and your arm supported at heart level.

Small details can make a surprisingly big difference.

Do you leave old batteries inside your blood pressure monitor? 🔋💥

Leaving alkaline batteries inside any digital health device during long storage can completely ruin it. Over time, batteries leak corrosive fluid that eats through metal contacts and fries the internal circuit board.

If you aren't using your monitor for more than a few weeks, pull the batteries out!
