Last week, CAN had the opportunity to attend The READY Center community outreach event.

Here, we talked with consumers and connected with local non-profits who share similar goals and missions.
Overall, this was a huge success, and we were honored to make these valuable connections!

July is Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Awareness Month.

Together, let's remember that mental health is a human right, not a privilege.
Every BIPOC individual deserves access to culturally responsive care, support, and opportunities to heal.

Real strength includes vulnerability.
When men share their experiences, they help break stigma and inspire others to seek the support they deserve.

This last Saturday, CAN had the opportunity to attend the Third Annual Solutions to Heal and Restore the Soul of Our Community Conference at Howard University

The goals of the conference were focused on working to improve health and wellbeing across generations through restorative and healing practices, as well as strengthening fatherhood, neighborhoods and families with community-based solutions.

Thank you to Dr Frank Malone of 100 Fathers Inc and Dr Dameon "Dr. Dae" Jones of HealthyDaes for presenting and leading the discussion!

This past Friday, CAN was invited to participate in a demonstration to make our voices known and advocate for our homeless neighbors across the Nation.

A policy, proposed by the Cicero Institute, would move the focus on the housing issue away from supportive systems and towards a broader criminalization of homelessness, including fines and arrest for sleeping on the streets.

This is not a partisan issue: Both sides want to solve the problems faced by the homeless community, but the way to go about solving it should not include ways that will only make the problem worse, not better.

According to the National Homelessness Law Center, support systems that provide housing and treatment for our vulnerable American neighbors would be 2-3 times LESS expensive than funneling them into the criminal justice system.

Let's advocate for solutions that are human focused, and will help support our neighbors in need.
