ASPR has an important role to play in accelerating innovation: make it easier for the right partners, ideas, and technologies to address health security threats.

With support from Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority- BARDA and facilitated by Advanced Technology International, the Rapid Response Partnership Vehicle (RRPV) is lowering barriers to partnership and creating more opportunities for organizations with promising technologies and expertise to work with us to protect the American people.

“I was excited to join innovators and government partners at the 3rd annual RRPV General Membership Meeting and see firsthand how public-private partnerships are making our nation better prepared.” PDAS John Knox, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response.

What does real-world jurisdictional stockpiling look like in practice? Watch this short video to see how ND Health and Human Services turned a small garage-based storage facility into one of the nation's most advanced jurisdictional stockpile programs. Learn how public-private partnerships, centralized leadership, and a commitment to preparedness have improved health and medical readiness and emergency response across a predominantly rural and frontier state with long transportation distances and severe weather risks.

An FDA-cleared ultrasound device may soon provide enhanced triage capability following mass casualty incidents. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority- BARDA is partnering with Flosonics Medical LLC to develop an AI-enabled algorithm for FloPatch, a wireless, wearable, critical care ultrasound device that provides real-time evaluation of cardiac performance.

This software, known as FloPredict, is intended to help clinicians identify patients who are at risk for complications due to internal hemorrhage after mass-casualty incidents.

During , ask yourself: Who will I need at the table when disaster strikes? Start building or strengthening those relationships now.

All emergencies are local. And when disaster strikes, no single organization has every capability a community needs. Hospitals, healthcare coalitions, community organizations, emergency management and state, local, tribal, and territorial public health each bring something essential to preparedness and response.

That’s why strong partnerships matter. By planning and preparing together before an emergency, communities can respond more effectively when it matters most.

ASPR is here to support partners where emergencies happen: at the local level. We work alongside area public health, emergency management, and medical partners to strengthen healthcare readiness, help fill preparedness gaps, and provide resources that support an effective response.

Join ASPR throughout September to learn how you can use ASPR resources to strengthen preparedness in the communities you serve and find out what we are doing to prepare the nation. aspr.gov

As racecars roared through the nation’s capital during the Grand Prix, ASPR responders were hard at work providing vital public health and medical support to help keep Americans safe on race day. As racecars roared through the nation’s capital during the Grand Prix, ASPR responders were hard at work behind-the-scenes, providing vital public health and medical support to help keep Americans safe on race day.

ASPR’s team included experts from the National Disaster Medical System, Tactical Medicine, logistics, the Incident Management Team, and the HHS Secretary’s Operations Center.

Our responders treated hundreds of Americans throughout the day. With approximately 150,000 attendees gathered on a hot summer day, ASPR teams had more than 400 patient encounters across four medical tents. Many needs were addressed on site – from critical care to first aid. Responders worked with DC Fire and EMS partners to transfer patients who needed longer-term care or more specialized medical equipment to local hospitals.

That smooth response reflected extensive planning among ASPR and our federal and local partners long before race day.

Emergency preparedness is not simply reacting well when something goes wrong. It is having highly capable people, strong partnerships, and proven systems ready before anything happens.

For nearly two decades, Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (PHEMCE) has helped federal agencies coordinate one of the most complex challenges in health security: preparing medical countermeasures for threats we hope never occur.

The PHEMCE brings together the agencies and divisions that support medical countermeasures development, aligning priorities, synchronizing investments, and sharing expertise across the entire medical countermeasure lifecycle, from research and development to deployment and use.

Every stage requires different expertise. Every transition creates potential gaps. Find out how the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act provides the authorities and framework needed to prevent or fill gaps, sustain collaboration and

align the investments that are critical for our nation’s preparedness. https://www.aspr.gov/news-updates/blog/2026-08/phemce-ensures-effective-medical-countermeasure
