Welcome to another !

Fibroid Fridays were born from a collaboration between the Fibroid Foundation and Mayo Clinic to bring new and emerging fibroid research to those who need to know about it first.

Maybe it’s you.

Fibroids are incredibly common, yet so many women still navigate the symptoms, questions, and decisions quietly.

The more we talk about them, the easier it becomes to recognize that fibroids aren’t a personal issue, they’re a community issue.

It’s time we start acting like it.

Looking for the real cause of fibroids? Swipe right to find out!

Yup, we DO NOT KNOW!
No, it’s not something you ate or something you did that caused your fibroids. We have no idea why some women don’t get them, but we know that most women WILL.

The fact that we don’t know what causes fibroids is not a good thing. We desperately need more research into the cause(s) so that we can work on prevention. So if someone is telling you that they know why you have fibroids and that they can definitively cure them, they’re likely trying to sell you something. Be cautious, and reach out to us if something just doesn’t look right to you. You deserve real answers, not to be exploited.

Between the cost of care, busy schedules, past experiences of feeling unheard, and simply getting used to your symptoms, managing your fibroids on your own can feel like the easier option.

But just because you’ve learned to live with your symptoms doesn’t mean you should have to navigate them alone.

Heavy bleeding can lead to anemia, and fibroids can change over time, even when you feel like you have everything under control.

You may not need treatment right now, but you still deserve regular checkups, answers, and a care plan that puts your well-being first.

Let us know how we can help ❤️

Heavy bleeding from fibroids can lead to anemia, and many women live with both for years without anyone connecting the dots. The link between fibroid-related anemia and women’s cardiovascular health is under-researched and almost entirely absent from patient education.

We’re changing that. The Fibroid Foundation is launching a national educational initiative to start a conversation that hasn’t happened at a national level yet, and we’re making sure patients are at the center of it.

That starts with listening. If you’re living with fibroids and anemia, we want to hear your story. Join one of our upcoming virtual listening sessions and help shape how this conversation happens across the country.

This project is supported by Organon’s ‘Her Health 2026’ Grant.

Despite the name, uterine fibroid symptoms rarely only affect the uterus. This ailment often affects the whole body, and because of a lack of awareness, women may attribute these issues to something else, delaying treatment and lessening their choices as time goes on.

Share this list with a friend who may need a push to look a little further.

Why 13? Because we’re in the middle of celebrating 13 years of the Fibroid Foundation! Use the link in our bio to help us fund the next 13. 💪

CBC ALC55, you were good to us!

Last week was characterized by meaningful conversations and impactful meetings, and we left this year’s ALC feeling energized, encouraged, and even more committed to this work.

This year, our founder had the opportunity to join an incredible panel for the CBC Health Braintrust entitled, “Menopause, Fibroids, and the Va**na Monologues.”

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, grabbed resources, talked about a fibroid free utopia, or just simply said hello.

We came to this year’s conference to connect, but also with purpose, and every single story we heard acts as a reminder that we NEED federal fibroid legislation. So while this year’s ALC may be over, our work with the government certainly is not. Stay tuned.

We are no strangers to the CBCF’s Annual Legislative Conference, but this year, we’re SO excited to be a part of it!

Join us at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center all week long at Booth 644. Grab your coffee & head to room 201 on Friday for an incredible panel discussion featuring our founder. We hope to see you there!

This week, the Fibroid Foundation turns 13!

Thirteen is a great age to be. You’re loud. You ask uncomfortable questions. You refuse to accept “that’s just how it is.” Which is, more or less, our entire personality.

For 13 years this community has said the quiet part out loud: that bleeding through your clothes at work is not a rite of passage. That pain is not a personality flaw. That a hysterectomy should not be the first and only option anyone is handed. In that time, we’ve touched 181 countries, formed chapters all around the world and showed millions of women how unalone they are in this fight.

So here’s our birthday ask, and it’s a small one: 13.
$13 if that’s what today allows. A few times if you’re able. $13 a month if you want to be the reason someone gets answers in 13 weeks instead of 13 years.
