Today, on World Sickle Cell Day, the Howard University Center for Sickle Cell Disease brought together leading experts, advocates, researchers and community members for an inspiring symposium focused on healthy aging, wellness and improving quality of life for individuals living with sickle cell disease.

Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, celebrated outstanding contributions through a special awards ceremony and toured the new Howard University Sickle Cell Wellness Center. Thank you to our distinguished speakers, participants and partners for advancing awareness, education and innovation in sickle cell care.

Together, we continue to champion a future of comprehensive, compassionate care for every patient.

What an incredible day of community engagement and wellness! 💙

The Howard University Faculty Practice Plan was proud to participate in the Episcopal Church Women–Episcopal Diocese of Washington Community Health Fair at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Our dedicated providers and staff connected with community members through blood pressure, glucose, sickle cell, and dental screenings, while also providing asthma education, health resources, and opportunities to Ask the Doctor.

Events like these are a powerful reminder of the importance of meeting people where they are and expanding access to preventive care and health education. We are grateful to our volunteers, partners, and everyone who stopped by to learn more about their health and wellness.

Thank you to the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for hosting this impactful event. Together, we continue to strengthen healthier communities and advance our mission of delivering compassionate, accessible care for all.
