📍Gaza

The SAMS team at the Nuseirat Basic Primary Health Care Center (BPHCC) continues to provide essential medical and humanitarian services to the most vulnerable populations, including women, children, and older adults.

The medical team places particular emphasis on sexual and reproductive health services, as well as the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), helping patients maintain continuity of care and better health outcomes.

At the same time, the psychosocial support team provides vital mental health and psychosocial services, helping beneficiaries cope with the emotional and psychological impact of the ongoing war and strengthen their resilience.

The prison doors may have opened, but for many survivors, the trauma remains.

For survivors of detention, torture, and trauma in Syria, every day is a quiet battle to feel safe again, to sleep without fear, to reconnect with life.

Through SAMS’ Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) program, healing becomes possible, one step at a time.

Yesterday in Damascus, SAMS met with UN Secretary-General AntĂłnio Guterres in its capacity as Chair of the Syrian NGO Alliance, representing Syrian NGOs and the Syrian diaspora.

The meeting underscored a shared message: for more than 15 years, Syrian organizations have led humanitarian response efforts on the ground. As Syria enters a new phase, national and diaspora organizations must be empowered to contribute to recovery through meaningful localization built on equitable partnerships, direct investment, and a meaningful role in shaping decisions that affect their communities.

Trauma doesn’t end when the violence stops.

Many survivors of torture, detention, and conflict-related violence suffer from severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, and complex psychiatric conditions that require professional treatment and medication.

At SAMS’ specialized mental health centers, survivors receive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing care under the supervision of trained mental health professionals.

You can help provide essential psychiatric medications for patients receiving treatment.

After seven years of waiting, Afraa finally held her greatest dream in her arms.

Living in the Atmeh camps in Idlib, Afraa turned to the women's clinic at SAMS Maternity Hospital, where she was diagnosed with Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS). With a personalized treatment plan and six months of dedicated care and follow-up, her dream became reality.

Afraa went on to receive comprehensive prenatal care at SAMS Maternity Hospital before welcoming a healthy baby girl, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope.

With the generous support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), SAMS Maternity Hospital continues to provide essential maternal and reproductive healthcare services to women in the camps, helping more families experience the hope of safe motherhood.
