Has anyone else been following this story? The city of Akron passed a resolution supporting an action plan to find housing for the people who had lived in this homeless camp in response to this.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A city council in Ohio has ruled residents living in a tent city on private property must leave by Thanksgiving. The Akron Beacon Journal reports

The goal of Hyacinth's Place is not only to help our women through tangible ways such as housing, employment, etc, but also by working to de-stigmatize the negative connotations surrounding mental health. So that not only does the world view them differently. But they view themselves differently as well. This article does a great job in conveying everything we hope to get across!

Recent mass shootings across the United States have prompted policymakers, journalists and the public to often focus the blame on individuals with serious mental illness, disregarding other contributory factors, such as firearm accessibility, according to a viewpoint published in JAMA Psychiatry.

On Saturday August 25th, 2018, the Hawg Dawgs, a Harley motorcycle group consisting of different chapters of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, volunteered at Hyacinth’s Place by replacing their carpet floors with hardwood tiles. Lee Marvin Packley, of the Omega Psi Phi Lambda Gamma Gamma chapter, explained how the Hawg Dawgs ride with a purpose to serve communities all around the US. They have done volunteer projects such as delivering water to Flint, Michigan as well as projects helping local non-profit organizations such as Hyacinth’s Place all on their own free time. We want to send a huge Thank You to the Hawg Dogs and appreciate all of their hard work with the wonderful results!
