🧠❤️During Mental Health Awareness Month in May, I had the opportunity to participate in a Mental Health Fair, sharing free and accessible resources to support college students’ emotional well-being.

Serving students from more than 140 countries is a reminder that mental health is a universal priority. As educators, we are part of a support network that helps students access resources, build resilience, and thrive throughout their academic journey.

These tools are not a substitute for professional mental health care when it is needed, but they can serve as valuable complements that encourage self-care, prevention, and healthy coping strategies. Every conversation is an opportunity to make mental health support more accessible.

The Women, Peace and Security Index 2025/26, developed by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security in partnership with the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security, evaluates the well-being of women in countries around the world. The report measures three main dimensions: inclusion, justice, and security.

Inclusion examines women’s participation in economic, social, and political life; justice focuses on legal equality and discrimination; and security evaluates women’s safety at home, in society, and in contexts of conflict. By combining these indicators, the index provides a comprehensive picture of the conditions affecting women’s lives globally.

The report highlights persistent gender gaps and shows that countries with stronger legal protections, higher levels of education, and lower levels of violence tend to offer better outcomes for women. The index is intended to guide policymakers, researchers, and organizations in promoting gender equality and improving women’s security and opportunities worldwide.

The Science of Belonging by Megan Calvert 🌎🤍.

A sense of belonging is one of the strongest predictors of student motivation and persistence—and one of the most fragile. This workshop explores what research tells us about how belonging develops in the college classroom and what instructors can do to strengthen it. Drawing on key ideas such as stereotype threat, belonging uncertainty, and wise interventions, participants will examine how subtle cues, instructor messages, and course design can either heighten or reduce students’ sense of belonging. Together, we’ll identify practical, low-effort ways to signal care, normalize struggle, and communicate high expectations and trust.
