Attentive, experienced, skillful, and compassionate, PAs (physician associates/physician assistants) devote their lives to providing quality medical care. As licensed clinicians who practice medicine in every specialty and setting, PAs are dedicated to expanding access to care and transforming health and wellness through patient-centered, team-based medical practice. Quality medical care goes beyond prescriptions and procedures. It's a commitment to putting patients first and going the extra mile to get results. PAs believe communities flourish when everyone is healthy—when a patient's care is personalized and effective, their concerns are heard, their questions are answered, and they are empowered to take charge of their long-term health and well-being.

Physician assistants (PAs) are licensed healthcare professionals who practice medicine in every specialty and setting. PAs can take medical histories, conduct physical exams, order and interpret tests, diagnose acute and chronic medical conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications including controlled substances, counsel patients on disease management and treatment, perform procedures such as joint aspirations and injections, and participate in clinical research.

Join us in thanking our PAs for all they do for our patients!

Celebrated every year from October 6-12, recognizes the PA profession and its contributions to healthcare. The starting date, October 6, honors the anniversary of the first graduating class of PAs from the Duke University PA program in 1967.

ARA started incorporating PAs into practice in 2021 and we currently have 11 PAs across our Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. offices. Learn more about ARA PAs here: https://arapc.com/our-providers

Chronic low back pain can be debilitating, but non-surgical interventions can help. In this article in The Rheumatologist, our own Matt Reed discusses the benefits of physical therapy for chronic low back pain and explains why dry needling is one of the best tools he has added to his practice.

Because back pain is a chronic condition for many patients, rheumatologists should increase their understanding of the common problems of the lumbar spine.

It's our 50th anniversary! To celebrate, we held ice cream and Italian ice socials at all of our locations. We enjoyed the sweet treats and it was great to network with referring practices in our office buildings!
