Tomorrow we begin Week 2 of The Gut Microbiome Course, and we’ll be taking a closer look at the estrobolome and the role your gut plays in deciding what happens to estrogen once it’s been produced.

This course is a deeper clinical exploration of the work I introduced in The Menopause Gut, and it allows us to slow down and really understand the mechanisms shaping how women experience midlife.

If this conversation feels relevant to you, comment BETA and we’ll share how to join us.

The more we learn about the menopausal transition, the clearer it becomes that the gut is influencing far more than digestion.

Emerging research suggests changes in the gut microbiome may play a role in the anxiety many women experience during perimenopause through immune, metabolic, and neuroendocrine pathways.

This growing body of research is one of the reasons I wrote The Menopause Gut.

Understanding what is happening inside the gut helps us better understand many of the symptoms women experience in midlife.

Comment MICROBIOME and we'll send you the study.

High-functioning women often look successful on the outside while quietly living in survival mode.

In Episode 601, I reconnect with Dr. Nicole LePera to explore how early life experiences shape nervous system patterns that continue to drive our reactions, relationships, and health decades later.

In this episode, you will learn:
✅ How childhood wounds become stored in the nervous system rather than just the mind
✅Why understanding your dysfunctional habits intellectually will not change the emotional patterns that drive them
✅How perimenopause and menopause can magnify unresolved emotional patterns
✅What ACE scores measure and what they fail to capture
✅How reactive parenting can lead to hypervigilance and emotional scanning, even in safe environments
✅Dr. LePera describes the fawn response and explains how children learn to over-accommodate others, suppress their own needs, and avoid conflict.
✅How chronic stress becomes a learned response, and how stress responses can be passed across generations
✅How chronic stress and a dysregulated nervous system can influence gut function and microbiome balance
✅Why it’s essential to return your attention to your body in the present moment to begin healing

If you have ever understood your patterns but still felt stuck in them, this conversation offers a deeper framework.

I've been thinking about hosting an intimate wellness retreat for the women in this community.

Before I commit to anything, I'd love to hear from you.

I've put together a short 2-minute survey to better understand what you'd be looking for in a retreat experience, including location, timing, programming, and investment.

Your feedback will help shape what comes next.

For years, we’ve been told to think about longevity as something that matters later in life.

But what if one of the most important windows for your future health is already happening?

One of the things that fascinates me most about the research on perimenopause is how much is changing beneath the surface, often before symptoms become obvious and long before disease develops.

Beyond hormones, this is also a conversation about cardiovascular health, bone health, inflammation, metabolism, and the systems that influence how we age.

The good news is that this period of transition may also be one of the most responsive times to take action.

I explore the science behind this prevention window in my latest Substack article.

This week, our youngest son graduated from high school.

And I genuinely cannot tell you where the last 18 years went.

What makes this graduation so meaningful isn’t just the milestone, it’s everything he carried to get here. Over the course of high school, our son battled mononucleosis, Lyme disease, and mold-borne illness, sometimes all at once. He navigated them as a teenager, in a challenging academic environment, without ever using them as a reason to do less.

There were hard stretches. Days where showing up felt impossible and rest felt like failure. He showed up anyway, every time.

I’m so proud of him. ❤️

And if there’s one thing this season has reminded me, it’s this: every parent says it goes fast, and every parent means it.

If you are in an earlier season of motherhood right now, be present for the ordinary moments. The car rides. The dinnertime chaos. The homework battles you think you’ll be glad to be done with.

You will miss them. I promise you, you will miss them. 🤍
