Let me tell you. As a clinical student who has classes, research, a clinical externship, two clinical jobs, is a nanny, has a partner, family, friends, roommates.... you cannot please them all. All of these roles are important but they cannot take priority all at once, even when those people who fall within them demand your attention. We can only do the best we can and people will be let down, disappointed, frustrated, etc. It’s okay.

I am soo overly excited about this guided meditation. Not only is it recorded on my new mic, but re-igniting passion for my work is a seriously necessary topic for me as a 4th year doctoral student. Please give this a listen and let us know if it inspired you!! This is by far my favorite guided meditation that I’ve written to date! @ Washington, District of Columbia

It’s literally that simple. I just love this little visual.

We recorded our third episode tonight!
I’ve been thinking a lot about my purpose lately. Having purpose really gives me drive when grad school gets intense. For me, it’s being a light for others. I have a tattoo on my side of my “therapy motto” that reads “I will fight this fight with you.” I know that I need to be well in order to live my purpose. I’m working on this every day.
What is your purpose?

If it seems like we’ve been sort of MIA lately, we have been. But we’re back! Grad school is crazy and we also took a little time off for health reasons, travel, and spring break. If you haven’t already, check out episode 10, which is all about gender in psychological practice and sexism in academia. We also offer some simple suggestions for creating a gender-inclusive classroom atmosphere, such as indicating your own pronouns when you first begin a new class.

Clarifying the problem: another great approach for those who find themselves feeling generally anxious throughout the day. Sometimes we are keenly aware of what is making us anxious, other times we need to pause and clarify a little. Sometimes, we are feeling overly anxious about tons of different things and clarifying can also help us pin point the source in order to ease other anxieties.
