The DCAFP is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to improving the health and health care of the DC community through the support of family physicians and their patients. The Goals of DCAFP are:
1.To provide responsible advocacy for and education of patients and the public in all health- related matters;
2.To preserve and promote quality cost-effective health care;
3.To promote the science and art of family medicine and to ensure an optimal supply of well- trained family physicians;
4.To promote and maintain high standards among physicians who practice family medicine;
5.To preserve the right of family physicians to engage in medical and surgical procedures for which they are qualified by training and experience;
6.To provide advocacy, representation and leadership for the specialty of family practice;
7.To maintain and provide an organization with high standards to fulfill the above purposes and to represent the needs of its members.

The District of Columbia Academy of Family Physicians (DCAFP) is excited to announce its Annual Poster Contest for Medical Students and Residents!

This is a fantastic opportunity for trainees to showcase their research, clinical insights, or advocacy work focused on family medicine or primary care. We welcome submissions of:

Original research

Case reports

Quality improvement projects

Evidence-based reviews

Health policy analyses

Deadline to apply: October 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM

Structured abstracts (max 300 words) must be submitted online through this application form. Finalists will be selected to present at the DCAFP Annual Meeting on November 9, 2026, and 1 medical student and 1 resident winner will each receive a monetary prize! This is a great way to get recognized, network with family physicians, and strengthen your CV!

Key Dates:

Abstract deadline: Oct 2

Finalists notified: Oct 20

Poster presentations: Nov 9
