Here are some great reasons to create one with the support of a local birth professional-

1. It's an opportunity to learn about, and understand your options for birth

2. It's an organized way to have conversations with your medical providers

3. to understand what the birthing facility has to offer, and any policies you need clarified

4. As a reminder of your preferences and needs while you are in labor.

By popular demand, some interview questions for your birth doula.

Interview several doulas, (3-5) from different practice models if you aren’t sure which model is for you (solo, small team, agency).

Talking to too many can get overwhelming and confusing so target and narrow down a few doulas of interest.

You will start to understand more of what you are looking for in terms of your birth experience when you talk to several folks.

Read lots of reviews, so you can see the difference in types of care. Figure out what’s important to you and ask!

I’m just thinking about it… I’m not gonna do it……….
I did it…….. twice 😅

So the first time, I submitted photos that just must have been too pretty, because some skinny, symmetrical faced, perfected features, 13 year old came out and I was like ugh the reviews are true! This app makes people look like a skinny white woman 🙄

But then I tried some other angles and they came out looking like me.

I’ve heard so many mixed reviews, such as the art sets up for “ideal” beauty standards which definitely was my first experience. I also heard this art is stolen from artists and I didn’t like that at all.

Interesting 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess we will see where AI goes.

We are looking for parents of newborns born around August-October to join a fun and inquisitive, intimate peer support group.

We can offer you a place to say what you really want to say and be yourself.
To connect with local families who share values and want to support each other parenting young kids.
To destigmatize mental health and share resources.
With clear collaborative guidelines to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, creating a foundation for connection beyond the time we are together.

What are the qualifies of a good midwife or OB? And how do you find a medical provider for birth that meets your needs?

Talk to people! But also be selective in who you talk to. Talk to multiple birth providers.

Some qualities I look for in a medical provider are, mutuality, trauma informed, respectful, unbiased, spend time with their patients and offer options and discuss results.
