Students in dual degree programs (e.g., J.D. and M.P.H.) are also considered, but you must have completed at least two years of law school. We give priority to students who have a demonstrated commitment to public interest work, public health, poverty law (e.g. Medicaid, SNAP), and/or civil rights, as well as an interest in working toward the expansion and protection of health care access for low-income and underserved populations (e.g. the Affordable Care Act (ACA)). Medicaid work requirement guidance must accurately reflect pregnancy protections. People are excluded from work requirements if they are pregnant or were pregnant within the past year, regardless of how the pregnancy ended. Arkansas has a shorter time frame. NHeLP in the news! A court battle that began with conservative-led states challenging protections for transgender people has now put disability rights at risk. A ruling removed language supporting community-based services for people with disabilities. NHeLP’s M. Geron Gadd warns, “it can make it much harder for people with disabilities and their families…to obtain needed services.”

The Trump administration’s move marks a sharp about-face for the federal government.

The Medicaid 5-year bar for many immigrants may not mean waiting 5 years after getting LPR status. Time spent in other qualifying statuses can count toward the bar.
