Late summer nutrition is looking pretty colorful. 🍅🫐🌽🥒
This month, our Nutrition Coaching Newsletter is taking a look at what’s in season- and why adding seasonal produce to your plate can bring some serious nutritional benefits.
🍅 Tomatoes: rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant. Cooking tomatoes can actually increase the lycopene we absorb, especially when paired with a healthy fat.
🫐 Plums + other deep blue/purple fruits: rich in anthocyanins, plant compounds being studied for their role in supporting cardiovascular and metabolic health.
🥒 Zucchini + summer squash: water-rich, nutrient-dense options that add volume and satiety to meals.
🌽 Corn: a whole-grain source of complex carbohydrates and fiber — and one of late summer’s easiest seasonal staples.
A great reminder that healthy eating doesn’t have to mean searching for exotic “superfoods.” Sometimes it just means taking advantage of what’s growing right now.
And a special shoutout to Christina, one of our incredible Revolution Medicine nutrition coaches, who develops our monthly Nutrition Coaching Newsletter and keeps our patients up to date on practical, evidence-based ways to make nutrition work in real life.
Happy late-summer eating from the Revolution Medicine team! 🌱
