Dorrell (Derrell) Eugene Carter, was born to the late Henry Thompson and Bernice Thompson Blue. He was Educated in Washington DC Public Schools and was raised within a large loving family.

Dorrell was also very well known as (Pookalla) and (Bubbles) by his family. He was a generous and loving person.

He was a free spirited person from a young boy. Always running off and getting into mischief. But everyone that knew him, could tell you he was a loyal person. Pookalla always loved being in the outdoors. From walking throughout DC, to anywhere he wanted to go. He didn’t drive but, if you gave him money for transportation.. forget that! It went straight into his pocket. He would (rather walk). His first love was his Dogs! He was often thought of as the Dog Whisperer. He had such away with them!

He also enjoyed being around people and had many friends. Although, (Pookalla) struggled for years to overcome his many challenges, yet remained humble.

Dorrell (Pookalla, Bubbles) was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Blue, his father Henry Thompson and his brother Phillip Carter. He also lives behind Daughter: Janella Lee, 2- Grandchildren: Jaleel Lee and Devai Webster. Eight Siblings: Robert Carter (Earlina), Carrie Payton (Larry), Geazell Carter, Mallard Thompson, Vernice Thompson, Carlotta Thompson, Krevona Thompson and Camilya Thompson. Kevin was born on June 11, 1961 to the late Louis and Iretha Muse of Halifax, Virginia. He attended Halifax County Public Schools. He joined the New Zion Baptist Church and accepted Jesus as his personal Savior.

After graduation, Kevin worked on his father’s farm and eventually took up a career in carpentry and painting, in which he worked for many years.

As it is widely known, friends are hard to come by in an unfriendly world, but Kevin was characterized by his ability to make friends easily. Kevin had a host of friends, but most of all, he had the friend that sticketh closer than a brother — Jesus, helping him walk through his days on this earth.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed the gift of laughter with his friends, relatives, and acquaintances, and he loved creating art, whether it was through drawing a picture, skillfully painting the interior of houses, or laying brick. Throughout Virginia and Maryland, there are traces of Kevin seen here and there.

He always made himself available to friends and family to tackle projects that they were too busy to do — or just not skilled enough to pull off.

Kevin lived just minutes from New Zion Baptist Church in Nathalie and liked to attend church services. He also looked forward to reuniting with family and friends at annual Homecomings.

Keith Maurice Horne “Goofe” aka “Sharoo” was born on July 17, 1981, to the late Patricia Horne and raised by the late Mattie Jean Taylor, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday September 25, 2026 at George Washington University Hospital. He grew up in Fort Washington, MD and graduated from Friendly High School in 2000. He then attended Prince George’s Community College.

Work Life
Keith was a hardworking and dependable man who took pride in providing for himself and his family. Throughout his working life, he gained experience in a variety of fields and was never afraid to work with his hands. Though he never had a career in the food industry, he was a good cook and enjoyed preparing meals occasionally.
He worked with CORT Furniture, where he gained experience in furniture delivery, staging, and setup. He also worked with McCrea HVAC and UPS, building a diverse work background and developing a reputation for being willing to learn and take on different responsibilities.
Keith had a natural ability and interest in working with his hands. He hadexperience with working on cars performing oil changes, as well as landscaping and other hands-on work. His willingness to work hard, learn new skills, and help wherever needed was a meaningful part of who he was and the legacy he leavesbehind. Gail R. Plowden was born August 27, 1957, in Washington, D.C., to the late Shirley Walker and Albert McCray. She was educated within the District of Columbia Public School System.

Gail worked for L'Enfant Plaza Hotel for over 10 years as a housekeeper until her health began to fail. Although she could no longer work there, she continued serving in other ways, including babysitting for family and friends and preparing meals. Many people remember her famous seafood salad. She enjoyed playing Spades and Tonk and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As a young adult, Gail gave her life to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Joseph Thomas. She later rededicated her life and continued to serve God as a member of Stay Humble and Trust God Ministry with Bishop Major Bandy.

Gail leaves to cherish her memory two caring, loving, and devoted children, Gail Todd and Laron Plowden (Shaneéquia); eleven grandchildren, Tikia, Derrick, Sa'Mia, Laron, Na'Kyea, Anthony, Maurice, Lalaysha, Ameenah, Carlos, and RaKeeya; eight great-grandchildren, King, Rayonna, Azariyah, Messiah, Laron, Treu, Tay'shawn, and Zayden; six siblings, Lynn Walker, Regina Davis (Jimmy), Renee Minick, Shirley McClam, Rosslyn Howard, and Michael Staley; a close, dedicated forever friend, Amos Plowden; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
