A diverse and well-prepared physician workforce is essential to advancing health equity and improving health outcomes for all communities.

In the latest article from the Journal of the National Hispanic Medical Association (JNHMA), authors examine the ChangeMedEd RoundTable Recommendations — a collaborative effort to identify strategies for strengthening medical education following the 2023 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. Harvard and UNC.

The article outlines six key areas for action, including data standards, research, policy advocacy, curriculum and assessment, accreditation and physician workforce development. These recommendations emphasize the importance of expanding access to medical education, supporting diverse learners and preparing physicians to meet the evolving health care needs of communities across the nation.

The findings underscore the critical role of medical education in building a physician workforce equipped to address health disparities and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care for all patients.
