Wounds without words become burdens we carry. Words don’t create the pain or change the past. But they give us somewhere to hold our wounds, transform our relationship to them, and open new possibilities for how we live and love.

When we misunderstand attachment, we misunderstand ourselves and our relationships.

Intimacy reveals what survival once required. We tend to organize our relationships around what once felt safest, not necessarily what brings us closer. Fostering relationships that feel safe, fulfilling and loving is all about doing the work within.

I’m thrilled to be speaking at the 2025 Black Health Connect Conference in Washington, D.C., where I’ll join a panel of esteemed colleagues to discuss burnout among healthcare professionals.

This annual event brings together hundreds of Black healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem. I’ve attended since its inception, and year after year, it remains the most joyful, inspiring, and fulfilling conference I’ve been a part of.

In a time when we need community more than ever, offers one of the largest gatherings of Black healthcare professionals in the country. From powerful panels to unmatched networking opportunities, this is where our community connects, heals, and thrives.

I am honored to receive a fellowship from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. I’m excited to bring the psychology of racial trauma into the field of cultural preservation and to help reimagine preservation as a powerful path toward collective healing, justice, and liberation.

We can only understand our present through the lens of our past, and true healing begins with an honest reckoning of the wounds that shaped us. Preservation is more than protecting history—it’s a living process of repair, restoration, and transformation. By honoring the stories and struggles of those who came before us, we open space for collective healing—urgently needed in a nation writhing in pain.

Thank you to , the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the opportunity to carry this work forward. I’m deeply grateful for your support.
