Sunday, April 5, 1:30-4:30 pm
In-person sitting meditation
and Sadhana of Mahamudra practice
Seekers Church, Takoma Park, DC
Join us on Sunday, April 5, for in-person meditation, tea, and Sadhana of Mahamudra practice to celebrate the Parinirvana of Chögyam Trungpa (April 4) at Seekers Church in downtown Takoma, DC. The setting is open, light, and spacious, and it is just one block from the Takoma Metro station. We are wheelchair-accessible, from the street door and back entrance. Starting at 1:30 pm, we will engage in sitting and walking meditation practice until 2:30, followed by tea and cookies -- and then we will gather back in the sanctuary to join Shambhala Online in practicing the Sadhana of Mahamudra.
In 1968, while on retreat in a cave in Bhutan, Chǒgyam Trungpa discovered The Sadhana of Mahamudra, a terma text, or visionary teaching, that illuminated a path to overcome obstacles to spiritual maturation and progress. From the time this text was written down onwards, his teachings were dedicated to providing his students with the wisdom to sail clear of the fog of materialism. The sadhana contains a vivid description of the obstacles presented by physical, psychological, and spiritual materialism in the modern age and prescribes unwavering devotion to wakefulness as the antidote to the materialistic outlook.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, April 5!
