There’s a hand on the reins, and the hand is yours.

That doesn't mean going it alone. It doesn't mean rejecting expertise or pretending you have all the answers. It means staying the one holding the reins while you gather counsel, weigh what you're given, and decide.

We live inside systems that are very good at teaching us to defer. Trust the label. Trust the expert. Trust the algorithm. Trust the official word. Stop asking.

But your lived experience is data. Your questions matter. Your capacity to notice, adjust, and advocate matters.

Sovereignty isn't isolation. It's remembering that you are still at the center of your own story.

This terrain is yours to tend.

Hands on the reins. Eyes open. Still here. Still tending. 🤍

A snake walked into her yard.

And instead of turning away, Vanessa Morgan followed it.

What began with a three-and-a-half-foot bull snake in Taos became a two-year journey into a part of medicine hiding in plain sight one we've been using for decades, even if we've forgotten where it came from.

This Wednesday on Tend the Terrain, Vanessa joins me for a conversation about what medicine forgot, what the snake was asking her to remember, and what happens when we become willing to look somewhere unexpected.

Every August, we're encouraged to celebrate Wellness Month.

There's nothing wrong with that. But it also raises an important question:

When did wellness become something we buy instead of something we practice?

Some of the most meaningful things we can do for our health don't come with a price tag. They don't arrive in a subscription box or promise to transform us in 30 days. They're quieter than that—sleep, sunlight, real food, meaningful relationships, curiosity, and the small choices we return to every day.

In my latest Substack, I reflect on how we've turned wellness into a campaign, and why I believe the things that truly support our health were never meant to be sold.

If this resonates with you, I'd love for you to read it.

Some conversations stay with you long after they end because they challenge the way you see yourself, your health, and the life you’re living.

It was a true honor to welcome Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D to the podcast. Together, we explore the relationship between biology and belief, reflect on the experiences that shaped his life’s work, and discuss his own cancer journey with honesty, wisdom, and humility. This is a conversation about far more than disease. It’s about the environment we create within ourselves and the possibilities that begin when we start looking beyond what we’ve always believed.

Dr. Bruce Lipton’s new book, Beyond Darwin, is available for pre-order now and will be released later this month.

This week is National Farmers Market Week, and I can't think of a better reminder that health is built through relationships as much as nutrients.

When you buy directly from the person who grew your food, you're getting more than fresh, seasonal produce. You're reconnecting with a food system built on trust, transparency, and community. You can ask how the tomatoes grew this year, what will be in season next week, or simply learn the name of the person who helped nourish your table.

There's another kind of medicine here that no lab can measure slowing down, feeling connected, and being known instead of simply being another transaction.

This week, find your local farmer’s market. Bring a reusable bag, choose what's in season, and introduce yourself to one farmer.

It's a small step, but it's a beautiful place to begin tending to your terrain. 🤍

August is National Wellness Month, but I've been thinking about what that really means.

Somewhere along the way, wellness became something to buy instead of something to live. A new supplement, another protocol, a 30-day reset, the next product promising to change everything.

The truth is, some of the most powerful foundations of health have never been found in a box. They're found in deep sleep, real food, morning light, clean air, a nervous system that has the chance to settle, and in the willingness to ask one more question instead of accepting the first answer.

If this month inspires you to care for yourself more intentionally, I hope you take that invitation. Just remember that wellness doesn't begin on August 1st, and it doesn't end when the month is over.

The most meaningful things you'll ever do for your health were never for sale. 🤍

The calendar may say it's August!

Nature says it's time to gather.

Long before our modern schedules, our ancestors marked this moment as the beginning of the first harvest reminder that every season asks something different from us.

Not every season is meant for planting.
Not every season is meant for striving.

Some seasons invite us to pause long enough to ask:
✨ What has grown?
✨ What is ready to be gathered?
✨ What am I ready to release back to the soil?

As we step into a new month, may we notice the quieter shifts, the shorter evenings, the changing light, the sweetness that's almost gone and remember that our own inner seasons deserve the same attention.

Take the turn gently.
More soon. 🤍

What if the part we've been throwing away is the part we've needed all along?

The newest episode of Tend the Terrain is now live.

In this conversation with James Barry, we explore how our relationship with food, nourishment, and the wisdom of the whole can reshape the way we think about health.

Sometimes the answers aren't found in adding more—but in seeing value where we've stopped looking.

For a long time, we've been taught to hand over the reins.

Trust the label. Trust the expert. Trust the algorithm. Stop asking questions.

But reclaiming your agency doesn't mean rejecting wisdom or doing it all alone.

It means staying curious, listening to your body.
Seeking good counsel and remembering that you are still the one holding the reins.

Health isn't built by one perfect protocol or one perfect decision.

It's shaped by thousands of small, daily choices that bring you back to the center of your own story.

This terrain is yours to tend!

Hands on the reins.

Eyes open.

Still here.

Still tending. 🤍
