Bullying Is More Than Hurt Feelings. It’s a Mental Health Concern 💙🧡
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and at Passages Counseling Services, we want parents, educators, and communities to understand the emotional impact bullying can have on our youth.
📊 Did you know?
According to the CDC’s 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey:
🔹 Approximately 1 in 5 high school students experienced bullying at school.
🔹 16% of high school students experienced electronic bullying, including through social media and texting.
Bullying can contribute to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, social withdrawal, and difficulty concentrating.
📅 Important Awareness Dates:
💙 October 14 – National Stop Bullying Day
🧡 October 21 – Unity Day (Wear Orange!)
Parents, pay attention to changes in your child’s behavior. Withdrawal, school avoidance, changes in mood, or unexplained physical complaints may be signs that something is wrong.
And remember, bullying doesn’t always leave visible bruises. Sometimes the deepest wounds are emotional.
💙🧡 At Passages Counseling Services, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported 💙🧡
