Following last night's fire at Chapters Living of Washington, we are profoundly thankful that all 40 residents were safely evacuated and that no residents or staff members were harmed. The safety and well-being of those entrusted to our care will always be our highest priority.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Mayor Lilija Stevens for her support and communication throughout this event, and to the many first responders whose courage, professionalism, and quick action made a difference when it mattered most.
A special thank you to the Washington Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Tyler Gee, along with the firefighters from East Peoria, Morton, Eureka-Goodfield, and Germantown Hills who provided mutual aid. We are equally grateful to the Washington Police Department, EMS personnel, emergency responders, and all agencies that worked together to ensure the safe evacuation of our residents.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Washington Senior Living for opening their doors and providing support during this emergency. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to help our residents in a time of need exemplify the very best of our senior care community.
We also want to thank our staff, families, healthcare partners, and community members for the overwhelming support, prayers, and encouragement we have received.
Last night demonstrated the power of people coming together in a time of need. Because of the dedication of our first responders, the support of our community partners, and the care shown by so many, our residents remained safe and supported throughout this event.
