Just wanted to reach out to the community I love and am so grateful to call home.
Let’s be real—this winter has been rough. I usually look forward to the holidays to lift spirits, enjoy traditions, and soak in a little extra joy. Between the back-to-back windstorms and power outages, it’s felt heavier than usual, and I’ll admit, I’ve caught myself feeling more cranky and frustrated than I’d like.
Today, during the power outage on the Parks Hwy, I watched local law enforcement standing out in the cold and wind, directing traffic and keeping everyone safe. It made me pause and feel thankful. While waiting for my turn to move , I smiled at the driver next to me—she threw her hands up, clearly irritated, probably at the traffic (at least I hope so). It was one of those moments that reminded me how tense things can feel right now, and how we don’t always know what someone else is carrying.
At the café over the last few days, we’ve even been hung up on and cursed at for something as simple as being sold out of soup. It’s a reminder that many of us are feeling stretched thin—but it’s also a reminder of how much patience and compassion matter, especially with one another.
I know my people. I know this community. And I truly believe we still have it in us to slow down, give a little grace, and find joy this season. To celebrate the ones we love, remember the ones we miss, and remind ourselves that every day we’re here is a gift. Valley peeps are strong, resilient, and full of heart—and I know we can still make this a meaningful, joy-filled holiday season.
