Mary Louise Bell

Mary Louise Sartor Bell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and child and servant of God, transitioned peacefully from her life on earth on June 2, 2026 in Oxford, Mississippi at the age of 86. Born November 5, 1939, in Water Valley, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Clyde Flake Sartor and Viola Trayser Sartor.

After dating in high school and into college, Mary Louise (Wessie) married the love of her life, James Robert Bell (Jim), on June 14, 1958 (Flag Day). Their love and devotion to each other were a true example of Godly love, partnership, and friendship, along with servanthood. They shared three children and were devoted to them, raising them with God’s guidance. Her “Mothering Spirit” led her to be a “mother” to many children within her churches, schools, and communities.

Mary Louise was always very active in leadership roles and teaching in each church that she was a member. She served in many churches over her lifetime, but primarily in Water Valley United Methodist Church, Raymond United Methodist Church, and Corinth United Methodist Church. Mary Louise and Jim joined Oxford University United Methodist Church upon their move to Oxford in 2022. They attended the Stragglers Sunday School Class, were members of a monthly Life Group, and Mary Louise participated in a few Soul Sister Book Studies, especially in their first year there.

Mary Louise (Mrs. Bell) taught First Grade, Kindergarten, and Elementary & Intermediate Gifted Education in the Hinds County School District in Raymond and Byram. She touched many lives and helped build a foundation for many children. The “trickle effect” of her teaching (and loving) reached far beyond those she actually taught. We love hearing all of the “Mrs. Bell” stories!

Please feel free to share your stories with us on the Seven Oaks website.

Mary Louise leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Dr. James Robert Bell, “just short” of 68 years of marriage. She also leaves daughters Lisa Bell Davis of Oxford, Mississippi, Lauri Bell Butt (David) of Mobile, AL, and son James Michael (Mike) Bell (Shana) of Belmont, Mississippi. “Gran” leaves behind grandchildren, Jamie Carr of Oxford, MS, Alyssa Thomas (Graham) of Hattiesburg, MS, Shelby Bell (Parker Nelson) of Birmingham, AL, Tony Butt (Katie) of Mobile, AL, Mary Bell (Jarrius Kizer) of Henderson, TN, Caitlin Butt of Nashville, TN, Michael Bell of Nashville, TN and Ramsey Bell of Birmingham, AL. along with 4 great grandchildren, William Carr and Olivia Carr of Oxford, MS, Noah Nelson of Birmingham, AL and Aria Kizer of Henderson, TN. Wessie also leaves two brothers, Clyde Sartor (Barbara) of Vicksburg, and Mike Sartor (Paula) of Water Valley, and sister-in-law Vicki Bell of Water Valley. Additionally, she leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her loving parents, Clyde and Viola Sartor, Sister-in-law Beth Crumby (John) and Tom Bell.

Her family invites you to celebrate her life on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm to – 3:00 pm, with the funeral at 3:00 pm. The burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Please feel free to make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. A few close to her heart were Oxford University United Methodist Church, Hinds Community College, and Alzheimer’s Association.

Michael Anthony Cramer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Cramer, born on July 4, 1948, in Tennessee. Michael, a cherished father, consummate outdoorsman, and skilled welder, pipe fitter and furniture maker, left this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 77, in Water Valley, Mississippi.

Michael was a man of many talents and passions. After earning his high school diploma, he dedicated his life to his craft, working for the City of Memphis before retiring from the University of Mississippi. His hands were always busy, whether he was working in municipal maintenance or running Pine Valley Saw Mill, a venture that showcased his love for hard work and craftsmanship.

Beyond the job site, Michael was happiest outdoors. He had a deep love for crappie fishing and hunting, often disappearing for hours, only to come home with stories that delighted his family.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Kenny) Pilkington of Burlison, TN; two grandchildren, Haley Pilkington, and Kevin (Catherine) Pilkington; and two great-grandchildren, Lillith and Nicholas Pilkington; one sister, Kathy Fisher; as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts and fond recollections of fishing trips and family gatherings. He will be missed deeply-not just for his skills but for his kindness, humor, and the love he radiated toward those around him.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026 starting at 10:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Cramer; son, David Cramer; parents, Leo Cramer, Florence (Yates) Cramer.
