Jaw pain, earaches, clicking or popping when you chew? Your could be the reason.

The temporomandibular joint, or TMJ, is the small but important joint that connects your lower jaw to your skull. When the joint or surrounding muscles become irritated, it can cause jaw pain, ear discomfort, headaches, facial pain, ringing in the ears, or difficulty opening your mouth fully.

Treatment depends on the cause and severity of your symptoms. Simple measures such as eating softer foods, avoiding gum and jaw clenching, using moist heat, and reducing stress may help. Other cases may require medication, a mouth guard, dental treatment, or additional specialized care.

Connecticut ENT Allergy & Sinus is here to help you find answers and relief.

can cause nasal congestion, thick or discolored drainage, facial pain or pressure, headaches, and a reduced sense of smell. Symptoms that last more than 10 days, worsen after starting to improve, or continue for weeks may be a sign that your sinuses need a closer look.

Acute and chronic sinusitis can have different causes and require different approaches to treatment. The specialists at Connecticut ENT Allergy & Sinus can evaluate your symptoms, determine what may be causing them, and recommend the right treatment for you.

is normal and actually plays an important role in keeping your ears healthy. It helps protect, lubricate, and naturally clean the ear canal.

Problems can develop when too much earwax builds up and becomes impacted. Symptoms may include ear pain, a feeling of fullness, ringing in the ears, itching, drainage, or changes in hearing.

One common cause? Cotton swabs and other objects can push wax deeper into the ear canal instead of removing it.

If earwax buildup is causing discomfort or affecting your hearing, the team at Connecticut ENT Allergy & Sinus can evaluate the problem and recommend the safest treatment for you.

isn’t just for swimmers.

Also known as , swimmer’s ear is an infection or irritation of the outer ear canal that often develops when moisture gets trapped in the ear. It can cause itching, pain, drainage, a blocked feeling, or decreased hearing.

Children and teens are commonly affected, but adults can get swimmer’s ear too, especially those who use hearing aids or earbuds, have excess earwax, or have sensitive skin conditions.

A few ways to help protect your ears:
• Keep ears as dry as possible after swimming or bathing
• Use earplugs when swimming
• Dry ears gently with a towel or hair dryer from a distance
• Skip the cotton swabs, which can irritate the ear canal and push wax deeper

If ear pain is severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, Connecticut ENT Allergy & Sinus can help determine the cause and recommend the right treatment.

Feeling dizzy, unsteady, or like the room is spinning? Balance problems are common, and the inner ear is often involved.

Your sense of balance depends on several parts of the body working together, including your inner ear, eyes, nerves, muscles, joints, heart, and blood vessels. Conditions such as BPPV, labyrinthitis, and Ménière’s disease may cause symptoms including vertigo, dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, or feeling like you might fall.

At Connecticut ENT Allergy & Sinus, our team evaluates balance concerns through a review of your medical history, physical and neurological examinations, and specialized testing to help determine whether an inner ear disorder may be contributing to your symptoms.
