In 1948, at the request of Archbishop Edward Mooney, the Dominican Sisters of Oxford began caring for the elderly in their previous motherhouse nestled along the shores of Scott Lake – a stunning location reflecting the beauty of God’s creation. Today, more than 60 years later, Lourdes Senior Community, a non-profit, continuing care retirement community, has grown into a neighborhood of 250 senior

s living in four distinct residences. Fox Manor offers independent living, Mendelson Home provides assisted living, Clausen Manor cares for those living with dementia and Lourdes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center offers long-term care and a rehabilitation center. Lourdes Senior Community has a long history of quality healthcare services and programs. In 2013, the Lourdes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center was named one of the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report magazine, and the overall community was selected Best of the Best for senior living for the sixth year in a row by readers of the Oakland Press, a suburban Detroit daily newspaper. In addition, Clausen Manor and the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center previously received Michigan Governor Care Awards, and each year our facilities pass state surveys with exemplary records.

🌸🦋 Exciting Day at Fox Manor! 🦋🌸

Today, we celebrated a beautiful moment as we released this year's batch of Pink Lady Butterflies!

For the past few years, our dedicated residents have lovingly raised these enchanting creatures, and it was heartwarming to see them take flight.

The joy was palpable as everyone gathered to watch the butterflies flutter into the sky.

Some even decided to land on our friends for a quick goodbye before seeking out their favorite flowers!

Thank you to all who participated in this magical experience.

🚧🔥 Exciting developments are on the horizon at Lourdes as we prepare to break ground for our new independent living project! 🔥🚧

As part of this process, we will be removing a few old structures from our 35 acres, including the last two of the three houses that once stood here. Before that happens, we are thrilled to partner with the Waterford Fire Department to provide our firefighters with vital onsite training.

The fire department will be simulating various conditions and practicing search and rescue operations in these houses. So, if you notice any smoke in the area, don’t be alarmed! It’s just our dedicated firefighters honing their skills to ensure they are ready to save lives when it matters most.

We appreciate the support of the Waterford Fire Department and look forward to the future of our community!

As part of their incredible Opera on Wheels outreach program, they brought the gift of music to our residents, delivering an interactive and inspiring performance that resonated with everyone. The themes of hope and inspiration were beautifully woven into their show, creating a joyful experience for all.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and we are so grateful to the Motor City Lyric Opera for sharing their talents with us. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of music to uplift and connect our community. Thank you for a memorable day filled with beautiful melodies!

🌸✨ Celebrating Mother's Day at Fox Manor! ✨🌸

Last week, we honored the incredible women in our lives with a delightful ladies luncheon. The atmosphere was filled with joy as we sipped on refreshing champagne punch and enjoyed a colorful array of delicious dishes, all served at beautifully decorated tables.

Tammy touched our hearts with a heartfelt poem about mothers, reminding us of the love and strength they bring into our lives. We also had a blast with some fun Mother’s Day trivia, sharing laughter and cherished memories.

It was truly a beautiful way to celebrate and honor all the special women who inspire us every day. Thank you to everyone who made this event so memorable! 💖🥂

These stunning independent living ranch-style villas sit beautifully on the shores of Scott Lake, right next to Fox Manor. Residents will enjoy a vibrant community filled with activities and entertainment.

🌟 As Skilled Nursing Week comes to a close, we want to reflect on the amazing fun we've had! 🎉

Monday kicked off with a cozy pajama party and a delicious breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, and orange juice. On Tuesday, we cheered for our favorite sports teams while enjoying concession stand snacks, topped off with a delightful bird show that had everyone smiling. 🦜

Wednesday was all about the 90s! We served hourly snacks and had a special visit from the exotic zoo, along with live entertainment and music leading into dinner. 🎶 On Thursday, we embraced the Wild West with Boston coolers. 🤠

Today, we’re wrapping up with Graphic Tee Day, a pizza party, and cake and ice cream! 🍕🍰

A huge thank you to our skilled nursing care workers and everyone who contributes to providing quality care to our residents. You make Lourdes feel like home to so many! ❤️

🌸💜 Last week, Mendelson Home celebrated the special women in our lives with a beautiful Mother’s Day luncheon, honoring mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunties and all those who have shared their love and guidance through the years.

Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon filled with delicious food, including colorful salads, soup and shrimp cocktail, all served in a beautildecorated setting.

Each table featured elegant centerpieces with purple roses and carefully arranged place settings to make the day extra special.

It was a wonderful time of fellowship, appreciation and celebration for the amazing women who have made such a lasting impact on our lives. 💜🌸
