When you pick up your child's backpack, does it feel like a bag of rocks? Do you notice they have a hard time pulling it on? Does your child have to bend forward while walking with a backpack, or complain about tingling or numbness?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a backpack should weigh no more than 5% to 10% of a child's weight. It's common to see children carrying as much as 25% of their body weight.

Dr. Eric Fjeldheim, DPT, has rejoined the Sanford Watertown Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Clinic and is back to treating patients, specifically in the Pain Science Center. His focus is to help those living with chronic pain who haven't experienced lasting relief with other approaches, utilizing a collaborative, whole-person, biopsychosocial approach.

Sanford Health has announced promotions for leaders at Sanford Health Watertown aligning with the continued integration of the former Prairie Lakes Healthcare System (PLHS) and Sanford Health.

John Allen has been named vice president of operations for Sanford Health Network. Allen will focus on enhancing and building Sanford Health Watertown as a regional hub while collaborating with Sanford sites, including Watertown, Canby, Clear Lake, Webster and partners across the area.

Laurie Fieber, RN, MSN, has been named administrator and chief executive officer for Sanford Health Watertown. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Fieber will provide leadership for Sanford Health Watertown, including the following primary care locations: Sanford Watertown Clinic, Clark, Estelline and Lake Norden.
