Effective 7/20/26: No Smart Glasses or headwear devices with cameras are allowed in courthouses

News from the NY State Unified Court System:
“smart glasses” – i.e., eyewear or headwear containing a camera,
microphone, computer or other technology that permit the user to record video or audio – either
prescription or non-prescription, are prohibited inside any Unified Court System (“UCS”)
facility. The reason for this prohibition is to ensure that individuals cannot surreptitiously record
court proceedings in violation of the New York State Civil Rights Law and applicable court
rules.
