Best wishes to Julia Dunoyer who heads off to graduate school for a Master in Social Work at Salem State University this fall!

We all know that Julia’s kind, caring, diligent and focused approach to life and her work will be an incredible asset to her career in social work. Julia has been a steady presence at Artemis Yoga since her first class in 2017, progressing from work at our front desk and growing into her current full-time role leading our membership and marketing efforts for the past 3 years.

Julia’s engaging, authentic way of welcoming members and new students has helped create such an inviting experience and culture for our community. Her role in building such a positive member experience has been invaluable.

Julia will be sorely missed, but she assures us that she will be back taking classes and perhaps working at the desk on school vacations.

Please stop by before her last day on August 13 to say “so long,” sign the memory book and enjoy this fun set of highlights through the years.

We will always have a mat ready for you, Julia!

This summer, Artemis Yoga founder Liz Padula hosted Bentley University’s Business of Health and Wellness Precollege Program for a morning of entrepreneurship and mindfulness. Students shared afterwards that it was the highlight of the week for these high school students taking a pre-college course at Bentley.

From an entrepreneurial perspective, Liz shared her founder’s journey, including how her business background in tech marketing and her MBA contributed to her success when she pivoted to open Artemis Yoga in 2015. Students got a real behind the scenes look at building a business and how to turn an idea into reality.

In this interactive session, students learned about everything from establishing a mission statement and company values, to managing the design and construction of the building, to creating a brand including logo and color iterations, along with all the operational and financial planning too. Liz also chatted about the peaks and valleys of business ownership.

Students had great questions, and the morning closed with a yoga and mindfulness session to bring it all together. Artemis Yoga was honored to design this special program to inspire students looking to learn more about the wellness space.

Thank you to Professor Danielle Hartigan and The Bentley Center for Health and Business for inviting Liz and Artemis Yoga!

✨ We invite any organization looking for a custom mindfulness or entrepreneurship session with a female founder to reach out to Liz or the team at Artemis Yoga.

Self-care doesn’t have to wait for a perfectly planned morning routine or an hour of uninterrupted time. In the summer especially, it often looks a little different.

We asked our teachers and staff, “What’s one thing you do to take care of yourself during the summer?” We hope their answers inspire you to find new ways to incorporate self-care into your busy summer days.

🌅 Embrace the Morning
Many of our teachers share a love for the quiet hours before the day heats up. Enjoy your morning coffee outside, take an early morning walk, practice yoga or meditation in the fresh morning air, listen to the birds. Nature teaches us to slow down, be present, and carry a sense of calm with us throughout the day.

🧊 Stay Cool
Get creative with ways to stay cool. Turn the shower down just a few degrees to refresh your body after a hot day. Cool off from the inside out with coconut – sip on coconut water for hydration, blend coconut milk into smoothies, or nourish your skin with coconut oil. These simple seasonal adjustments can help cool your body and calm your mind.

🧘 Slow Down on Your Mat
Summer is a wonderful time to embrace a slower, more restorative practice. Try Supta Baddha Konasana (reclining bound angle pose), supported with blankets or bolsters. This gentle pose encourages the body to soften while opening the chest and groins, helping to release excess heat and quiet the nervous system. Stay for several minutes, allowing your breath to slow and your body to unwind.

🍦 Savor Summer Traditions
Summer is full of simple pleasures. Walk to your favorite ice cream shop, take an evening stroll or bike ride after dinner, spend a day at the beach, or even freshen up your look with a summer haircut. These seasonal traditions remind us to make space for joy.

☀️ Your Summer, Your Practice
There is no one right way to practice self-care. The beauty of summer is that it offers so many opportunities to find what helps you feel your best. This season, we invite you to notice what nourishes you and make space for the practices, big or small, that support your well-being and bring you a greater sense of presence.

Charlotte taught her final class today, and we want to thank her for her wonderful, warm spirit and joyful yoga that she shared with our community over the past 3 years.

Charlotte joined Artemis Yoga as a student in 2023 and she quickly became a regular. After experiencing our community as a student, Charlotte revealed her yoga teacher chops, having taught for many years in Los Angeles! 🙂

It was so wonderful to have Charlotte join our teaching team and she has been a steady presence on Sunday mornings and Friday mornings teaching 103 classes during her time here. Charlotte has always been willing to pitch in last minute to sub classes and she has been a regular presence at our staff events and meetings.

During this time, Charlotte also kept attending classes and has now attended 191 classes at Artemis! Her presence both as a teacher, student and community member will be missed.

Please join us in wishing Charlotte, her husband Max, also an avid Artemis Yogi, and their two lovely daughters all the best as they move to their new home. We will miss you all! Please come visit!

Meet Esther! She's joining us as a Northeastern University Co-op student, and you'll see her both at the front desk and behind the scenes on our marketing team. We're so happy to have Esther with us and we can't wait for you to get to know her!

✨ Why do you practice yoga?
I practice yoga because it reminds me that strength isn't just physical and can be found within oneself; it's about confidence, resilience, and simply showing up.

✨How do you bring yoga into your daily life?
I bring yoga into my daily life by focusing on my breath. I am a Division I athlete at Northeastern and breath work is extremely important in practices and competitions to remind myself to stay present. It helps me carry a sense of balance and intention in what I am doing. I feel at peace when I breathe!

What is your favorite yoga pose?
✨ Warrior II is my favorite pose because it embodies confidence and empowerment. Every time I take that stance, I feel strong and am reminded to embrace my courage.

✨Is there a mantra or philosophy that resonates with you?
“Strong in mind, strong in body.” Fun fact; I have this mantra written on my sneakers 😊 I use it as a daily reminder that real strength comes from training both your mindset and your body. Yoga really helps me emphasize both.

✨How do you like to spend time outside of the studio?
Outside the studio, you will usually find me training with my rowing team as we have a very rigorous schedule. Otherwise, I love spending time sketching and listening to music or researching gothic architecture and graffiti art! I love activities that help me relax and recharge.

✨ Do you have any fun facts about you?
I have never eaten Mac & Cheese and I have a deadly fear of Cicada bugs (eek!!).

I am so excited to start my Coop position as the Marketing Coop and Front Desk Staff and meet all of the wonderful members. Look for me in classes!
