10 to 20% of infants have eczema

If you start to notice dry, red, and itchy patches of skin on your infant, it may be eczema. You can help to manage the symptoms of eczema by using gentle and scent-free moisturizers, removing irritants, and changing your laundry detergent.

Consistency is one of the best ways to tackle eczema. If you have questions, always ask your child's clinician.

MaineCare Expansion eligibility is changing in 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, eligibility changes will start for NEW MaineCare Expansion adults. MaineCare Expansion members are adults between 19 and 64 years old who receive MaineCare based on their income and do not meet the Social Security disability guidelines or have Medicare.

CURRENT MaineCare members will see their eligibility changes happen on their renewal date. For example, if your renewal date is in July, the changes will apply in July 2027. MaineCare members impacted by this change have or will receive notification via letter, e-notice, text message, and phone call.

Box breathing is used by U.S. Navy SEALs

Box breathing is a structured breathing technique that consists of four counts of breathing in, four counts of holding your breath, four counts of exhaling, and four counts of holding after you exhale. Repeat this process until you start to feel calmer.

Box breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the bodily system responsible for rest and digestion. When you are nervous, you activate your "fight or flight", increasing cortisol and blood pressure levels. The parasympathetic system helps to lower these levels, which help to reduce stress and calm your mind.
