EXCITING NEWS: Spravato received FDA approval for TRD on Tuesday, March 5 and Dr. McCormack was invited by its developer, Janssen neuroscience, to attend a conference featuring national leaders in treatment resistant depression later this month.

A nasal spray version of the drug ketamine has shown promise as an antidepressant, even if its properties still aren’t well understood.

Dr. Mack spoke with Sarah Peake, Pharm.D., Senior Medical Science Liaison with Janssen Neuroscience last Friday, and she informed him that their new product, Esketamine (Spravato), will officially get FDA approval this week! We anticipate that health insurance companies will now be more open to covering this rapidly-acting, highly effective treatment for severe, treatment resistant depression.
