Don’t be fooled! While other urgent cares advertise themselves as “pediatric”, the providers who will actually see your child often have limited to no pediatric-specific training.
Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care is the only TRUE pediatric urgent care in the Athens-Oconee area and the only local urgent care where your child is guaranteed to receive care from a board-certified pediatrician.
Why does that matter? A board-certified pediatrician has at least 12,000 hours of pediatric-specific education and training, whereas many of the providers at other urgent cares have well under 1000 hours. In addition, the pediatricians at Prime Time combine for over 50 years of experience taking care of sick children, totaling well over 100,000 visits.
When your child is sick, you want the best care possible for them. Evidence shows that the best care for a sick child comes from a pediatrician, not just someone ALLOWED to see children; so when you can’t see your own pediatrician for your child’s illness, the pediatricians at Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care have the education, training, and experience to provide the best care for your child. Ask your pediatrician what urgent care they recommend you use when they are unable to see your child.
So when you see someone advertising as a pediatric urgent care or pediatric clinic, fact-check their credentials to see if they are really board-certified pediatric specialists. Go to www.abp.org/verification-certification to see if the provider you are seeing is a board-certified pediatrician or not.
Because we value transparency at Prime Time, we want you to know that although we certainly can evaluate orthopedic injuries, we are not orthopedic doctors and we don’t currently have on-site x-ray. Fortunately, there are 2 orthopedic urgent cares in town already. Also, we don’t keep suture materials on hand, so lacerations that might need sutures would be better-suited to another urgent care or the ER.
