Today, our Independence Village of Waukee crew came together for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s! 💜

We walked for our residents, our families, our friends, and the millions of individuals whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Every step we took was a step toward hope, awareness, and a future without this heartbreaking disease. 💜

We are so grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up, support one another, and make a difference. Until there’s a cure, we’ll keep walking! 💜👟

This week, we celebrated our incredible Culinary Team and all the hard work, dedication, and heart they bring to our community each and every day!

From preparing delicious meals to serving them with a smile, our team does so much more than put food on the table. They create meaningful connections, remember our residents’ favorites, and help make our community feel like home. 💜

Our residents even got a little creative with their appreciation! 🎨 They decorated plates with the names of our Culinary Team members and a special message: “Thank you for your creativity! This is ours!” How sweet is that?! 🥹❤️

To our amazing Culinary Team, THANK YOU for everything you do, both in and out of the kitchen! Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you! 👏

While we put the finishing touches on our new neighborhood at Independence Village of Waukee, we're sharing a look at what a future resident’s apartment could look like.

Our new neighborhood will include 32 fully furnished studio apartments, each with a private bathroom and shower, television, and more — giving residents a welcoming space they can make their own.

And just outside their apartment, dedicated dining and activity spaces and a secure outdoor patio will offer even more opportunities to enjoy each day — while giving families added peace of mind.

We’re getting closer to opening, and we can’t wait to show you the finished neighborhood!

We sliced, drizzled, sprinkled, and piled on ALL the goodies today! 😋 From caramel and chocolate to marshmallows and plenty of sweet toppings, our Caramel Apple Nacho Bar was the perfect way to celebrate fall. 🍏✨

We’re getting closer! Our new memory care neighborhood is taking shape, and we’re excited to welcome residents soon.

This new space is about more than an expansion. Memory care provides specialized support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory impairments, with care and daily experiences designed around their individual needs.

From dedicated spaces for dining and activities to a secure outdoor patio, every part of the neighborhood is designed with residents and families in mind — helping residents feel comfortable, supported, and connected while giving families greater peace of mind.

We’re not done sharing yet! Stay tuned for a peek at what residents’ apartments could look like.

🇺🇸 Honoring Those Who Served 🇺🇸

This morning was all about our incredible Veterans! ❤️🤍💙 We treated them to our monthly Veterans Breakfast, this time featuring a LIVE omelet bar with omelets made fresh just the way they like them! 🍳✨

Our Veterans have given so much, and these monthly breakfasts are one small way we can show our appreciation, spend time together, and celebrate the heroes within our community.

They absolutely loved it, and we’re already looking forward to gathering around the table with them again next month! 🇺🇸

Something new is coming to memory care at Independence Village of Waukee!

We’re excited to announce that our community is growing with a brand-new memory care neighborhood, expanding the specialized support already available to residents and families.

Designed for individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory impairments, the new neighborhood will feature 32 fully furnished studio apartments, dedicated dining and activity spaces, and access to a secure outdoor patio. Residents will continue to receive personalized support from our experienced memory care team, giving families added peace of mind.

We can’t wait to share more as we get closer to opening in October 2026. Stay tuned for updates and a first look inside!
