Today was a special day at Hattie's Glen- Waunakee. Our Activities Director, Camryn, was honored and humbled to receive a generous donation of $700 to go toward activities and community engagement.
Beverly Roberts was a resident of Hattie's Glen- Waunakee for about 6 months, and in those 6 months, she flourished. Beverly was not someone who was engaged in previous communities, and when her family moved her here, they said to Camryn "just try, she might say no, but TRY". Camryn tried and tried and quickly Beverly became immersed into our activities and community. Beverly's family was more than thrilled with this change; they took comfort in knowing Bev was busy and that they didn't hear from her as often as they did in prior settings. They didn't feel anxious about how she was doing, or if she was lonely. This was due to Camryn and her passion for what she does.
Camryn pours her heart into her work every single day, and her goal is to make every resident smile at least once a day. And that is returned, too; you can tell the residents love Camryn and the energy she brings in everyday. Camryn and Beverly had a very special relationship; their conversations were witty, sassy, but always filled with love.
Today was a special day at Hattie's Glen- Wauankee, because it shows us that the work we are doing matters, maybe even more than we think.
A huge and thoughtful thank you to Beverly's family for their time and donation, today. It was a pleasure to work with Beverly and she will always have a special place in our hearts.
