With the beautiful weather we’ve been having it feels wrong to think about how Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. With that comes the holiday hustle, bustle, and stress.

Start the holiday season off right with a totally relaxing 100-minute massage that melts away your stress. Indulge in a soothing hot stone spot treatment, complemented by warm towels for your back and face. Treat your feet to refreshing Peppermint Pedango foot cream followed by a cozy hot towel foot wrap. Enjoy a pound of local honey (from my parents’ farm!) and a special gift from The Chocolate Cafe. Start your holiday season relaxed and stress-free.

The Black Friday Special is only offered on Friday, November 27th with limited spots available.

I think we can all agree - tipping culture has gotten out of hand, and I don’t want it keeping anyone off my massage table.

So here’s where I stand: Tips are greatly appreciated, but they are never required or expected.

Do I enjoy receiving extra money? Of course, who doesn’t?! Your generosity has meant a lot and has helped me keep my massage business going while I’ve been teaching. I’m genuinely grateful for that. I continue doing massage because I sincerely love the work and the people I get to spend that time with, not because it’s currently making me lots of money.

If you can afford the appointment but adding a tip makes it a stretch, please come anyway. I’ve been there, and I understand. And if you simply don’t want to tip? That’s ok too. You don’t need to explain or apologize.

You’ll get the same care, the same full appointment, and the same happy-to-see-you welcome either way.

To everyone who has tipped me over the years: thank you. This isn’t me saying your kindness hasn’t mattered. It’s me making sure nobody mistakes that kindness for a requirement.

I would much rather you come in and NOT tip than not come in at all. 💕

And yes, I will continue to apologize when you use a credit or debit card that the first screen you see is about tipping. 😂

Question time!

When you get a massage what’s one thing you’re disappointed if it’s not included?

Some ideas to get you thinking:

👉A heated table
👉Hot stones
👉A hot towel after the massage to wipe oil off before I get dressed
👉Dim lighting
👉Extra padding on the table
👉Water waiting for me after the massage
👉A chocolate or candy treat after the massage
👉A wider table so my arms don’t fall off the sides
👉Scalp massage
👉Not being asked about my comfort

My answer is in the comments. I’m curious what yours is so I can make an even better experience for my clients.

Looking for a massage in Wausau, but don’t know where to start? With 20 years of massage therapy experience you can feel confident in the care you’ll receive, but a great experience involves more than just the massage itself.

Here are some of the thoughtful details you can expect at Massage by Melissa:

✨A relaxed, unhurried intake process, with time to discuss your goals and create a plan for your session together.
✨ A clean, carefully disinfected space, including a disinfectable massage table and face-cradle cover.
✨ A fresh towel beneath your feet instead of a difficult-to-clean rug, and freshly laundered sheets and blanket for every client. (My big rug is also washable.)
✨ Your choice of essential oils or a completely unscented session.
✨ Lighting and temp adjusted to your comfort.
✨ Music style of your choice. (I have playlists with and without vocals, plus lo-fi beats, but I’m happy to play whatever you’d like.)
✨ As much or as little conversation as you prefer. You lead.
✨ Most importantly, a judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable, communicate openly, and truly relax.

The little details matter and your comfort, preferences, and peace of mind are always part of your care at Massage by Melissa.

This is my first summer in a few years without curriculum projects at NTC… which means more massage availability! Woohoo!

I’m opening my schedule to a few new clients this summer. If you’ve been waiting to schedule with me, now’s your chance! 🤗

A couple of new appointments recently opened up:
• June 2nd around noon
• July 15th around 3pm

I also have limited additional availability in July:
July 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, and 21st.

I realize many people are looking for evenings. My posted availability is the best place to start, but occasional appointments outside of those times may be available by request with a $20 convenience fee. Just send a DM or text (715-572-5646).

Stress has a way of settling into the body.

Take intentional time to slow down, unplug, and let your nervous system step out of constant “go mode.”

Massage can help with that.

Many people notice less perceived tension, reduced anxiety & depression, better sleep, and an overall sense of calm afterward. Schedule massages regularly and the benefits accumulate.

Schedule your summer massages soon. Just a few spots left.
