Overfunctioning can look a lot like love.

You anticipate. You accommodate. You explain. You soften your feelings before you share them. You notice the shift in their tone and immediately start thinking about how to make things okay again.

And somewhere in all of that attention to the other person, it can become surprisingly easy to lose track of yourself.

Before you explain, fix, reassure, or smooth things over, get curious:

What am I feeling right now?
What did I need before I started thinking about what they needed?
Am I saying what I actually mean, or am I making it easier for them to hear?
What would happen if I let them have their feelings without immediately trying to change them?

Healthy relationships make room for two people’s internal worlds. You can care deeply about someone’s experience without disappearing from your own.

Sometimes the work is simply learning to stay with yourself, too. It takes time and practice, but ultimately brings so much freedom. ❤️‍🩹

You don’t have to wait until you’re overwhelmed to learn skills that make life feel more manageable. 🤍

Our DBT Skills Group is designed to help you build practical tools for navigating big emotions, stressful moments, relationships, and the everyday challenges that can leave you feeling stuck.

Together, we’ll focus on skills for:
• regulating intense emotions
• tolerating distress without making things worse
• communicating needs and setting boundaries
• navigating relationships more effectively
• staying grounded and present
• responding intentionally instead of reacting automatically

If you’ve ever thought, “I know what I should do, but in the moment I just can’t seem to do it,” this group may be a really good place to start.

📩 Reach out to Tosa Psychological Services to learn more or join our upcoming group. ✨ Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 or Wednesdays 6:00-7:30✨

Wondering if you might have ADHD or autism? Curious about the way your brain works, why certain things feel harder than they “should,” or why you’ve always felt a little different?

Maybe you’re wondering the same things about your child — or looking for answers about learning, attention, behavior, or emotional functioning.

A psychological assessment can help make sense of the bigger picture.

At Tosa Psychological Services, we make the assessment process as easy and comfortable as possible. We currently have no waitlist for psychological assessments, and our evaluations are designed to give you more than a diagnosis.

You’ll leave with a clear, personalized report that helps you understand how your brain works, your unique strengths and challenges, patterns in personality and emotional functioning, and practical recommendations for moving forward.

We offer psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Reach out to learn more or schedule a consultation.

Mother’s Day can hold a lot more than what we see on the surface.

For some, it’s love and gratitude.

For others, it’s grief. Distance. Complicated history.

Sometimes it’s both at the same time.

It can bring up longing for what you didn’t have, or what you wish felt easier.

It can highlight relationships that are strained, or roles that feel heavy.

It can stir up guilt, pressure, or the quiet sense that everyone else seems to experience this day differently.

There isn’t one right way to feel today.

If it feels good, lean into that.

If it feels hard, that makes sense too.

❤️‍🩹You don’t have to force it into something it isn’t.

You’ve probably been the one who holds it together.

You notice things other people don’t. You think ahead. You adjust. You make things work. And most of the time, no one really sees how much effort that actually takes.

And eventually… you’re just tired.

For a lot of women, especially those figuring out their neurodivergence later in life, that kind of exhaustion starts to make more sense. It’s not random. It’s years of masking. Years of trying to be who you needed to be to get through.

This group is a space to start making sense of that.

We talk about the pressure to be “easy,” the constant self-monitoring, the grief that can come with realizing this later, and what it might look like to begin letting some of that go.

If you’ve been holding it all together for a long time, you don’t have to do that here.
